I wasn't too bothered by this story until I read that this little 4-yr old boy wants to grow his hair so he can cut it and give it to cancer patients. How unselfish of him...especially at his age.

How unselfish of him [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] .

I heard about this the other day. IMO, this is bureaucratic BS. There are far more important things for a school to be concerned about then the length of a child's hair. Would they suspend a girl for having long hair?

How did I know this was going to be in Texas?

I'm from Texas, and my mother and two younger brothers live there now and there are so many rules about hair at their school. (in Houston) It's such B/S! Evil or Very Mad

Are you serious? WTH???? See this the reason I don't have kids, I don't have the patience to deal with these schools and I don't have the patience to deal with my kids(if they are little devils).

Why "segregate" this boy because he want his hair long, this is a baby? What is the address or email? Maybe we should write this school the same way we wrote the school in Wisconsin. Sometimes it seems it is best to home school your kids.

pre-schooler suspended for hair length Empty Texas mom takes follicle fight to school board

Post by tiashaunteé 11th January 2010, 2:29 pm

This story is still going on:

01/11/2010

Associated Press

Floppy hair that sent a 4-year-old Dallas-area boy to in-school suspension has now placed the pre-kindergartner in a new spot: on the agenda for a school board meeting.

The Mesquite Independent School District will meet in closed executive session Monday night to hear an appeal from Taylor Pugh's mom.

Elizabeth Taylor says she wants her son back in regular class with his friends. Instead, Taylor has been alone in the library with a teacher's aide since late November because his long hair violates the district's grooming policy.

Taylor says her son likes his hair long.

School district spokesman Ian Halperin (EYE'-in HAL'-per-in) says the board can direct Taylor's parents to follow the policy, continue the suspension or grant an exemption.
