With some pushing and threats(Hey Lynnie and Sweet ) I decided to start my BnB thread. I felt with a TWA and with very little "natural hair" advice what could I talk about??? Well I will use this as my blog on hair, life, motherhood, being a wife, getting my health better, getting my financial life in order, and reaching other personal goals I have set for myself. So you ready ladies for this journey?? U think you know but you have NO idea!! Hopefully some of my post can help others out.

A little backgroud on me: I am the oldest of 3 girls(yay for big sisters), I am a mother of 3( 2 sons ages 17 and 16 and a daughter age 14), I am a wife of a yr to my BEST friend, a student, and a friend to many.

As a young child I always had long thick hair. If my memory serves me right, I started getting a relaxer at the age of 8. I remember after getting the relaxer my dad was VERY mad at my mom. She said she relaxed our hair to make it easier to manage.



From that point on I was on the creamy crack. I always wore my hair long until I got to high school and got the front cut and kept the back long. Yall remember that style??? I was FLYYYYY! Well after graduation I started rocking short cuts(spikes and all). They became my stable.

After I got engaged I grew it out so I could have a "different look" for the wedding.




After the wedding I started looking into natural hair. I had talked to a few ladies that was natural and started doing my research. I officially started transitioning Jan 1, 2009.

I BCed on 8/14/09 and that is the day I became FREE!!! My goal was to tansition for a year but my patience got the best of me.

Well it's about time!!! LOL!!! I am glad you started your thread. You dont have to give advice, you just share what you doing to your hair everyday. Now I dont have to search all over the place wondering how you are wearing your hair, if you tried any new style, new products you have tried and want to try....you know....all that good stuff.

I remember after doing the BC thinking WTH have I done. I got this little bit of hair and my hubby will prob be looking at me side ways. That feeling only lasted for a few hours. LOL!! I woke up the next day, took the bonnet off, my hubby said "rock it babe", and I held my head up high!

For the 1st month I co-washed every 2 days with Hello Hydration and used olive oil for moisture. As I begin reading blogs and Fotki's the product junkie kicked in. . I wanted to "try" everything that I read even though I did not have enough hair for styles. Headbands became my best friend when I got bored with my hair.

(LOVE this one but she broke..RIP blingy )

As the days went on I started seeing growth.

A month after I BC'ed hubby and I celebrated out 1 yr anniversary in Jamaica. The only products I took was Giovanni deeper moisture for co-wash, Giovanni direct leave in, and oilve oil. Talk about packing light. It felt good to be on vacation and not have to worry about hair.



I can get use to this "Natural Hair"!!

Yes, I remember that style (front short, back long) wore it myself, not sure why now but back in the day it was the look. Your pics are great (beautiful bride). WELCOME

Hey ladies. I had a busy week but promise to update this thread tomorrow.

Lynnie and Sweet thanks for checking on me.

there you are!! As you can see we missed you!!

Ok...so back to my journey. After my trip I saw growth...and it was growing quickly. I did not really take notice until I was looking at pictures. Pictures really tell a story. I was not doing anything different to my hair. Just still doing wash and go's with organic conditioners and sealing with olive oil. I did make sure I did a weekly deep conditon with:



I was really working on a routine for my hair.(yeah like I stuck to it )

By the end of October I was able to try my first twist out...and loved it! I REALLY loved how it got bigger and bigger each day. My first twist out was done with a mixture of shea butter, coconut oil, and olive oil.

Oh and another thing that was growing my was PRODUCTS!! No matter where I went I always ventured in the hair product section. I went from a small little tote basket:


To a large woven basket:



Yeah I was becoming a junkie! A natural hair blog junkie, youtube junkie, and product junkie. It was ok with me though. I am one to admit when I have a problem. Oh and the compliments kept on coming.
