My daughter is 18 months and she is a biracial child. Her hair is fine and curly. i havent investigated but it might be in the 2 catergory. We need a good detangler! Something that does not weigh her hair down. Something light and good to the hair. I know i could google this and i have but i would like to get some personal experiences if possible. Thanks in advance!

I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY Like Kinky Curly's Knot Today. It smells good, gives good slip in the shower, and is a just as effective leave in conditioner.....Found at Target, Whole Foods, or online

i used that for my hair and i have tried it on my daughters. Its to heavy, what would probably work better is some sort of spray.

Ive attempted before but let me try and post a pic.

Have you visited beadsbraidsbeyond.blogspot.com? The blogger's daughter is biracial. She uses Blended Cutie and Bee Mine products. I have only used Blended Beauty's Curl Styling Creme, but it's really light and moisturizing. I'm guessing Blended Cutie would be along the same vein....

There is a Kinky Curly children's line in Whole Foods called Tiny Twirls. It's located in the baby product section of shampoos and body washes. It's much lighter than the main line, but it was effective for detangling my daughter's wavy hair. You can also water-based leave-in conditioners for detangling. Qhemet's Cocoa Detangling Ghee is also super amazing. The detangling process is so smooth and less time-consuming with this product.

Aww! She's so cute! Have you tried diluting a conditioner? Would that make it less heavy?

How are you using this? It's the only QB product that hasn't worked for me yet. No Mine is really hard (is it supposed to be? My bedroom is cold) so I find it hard to work it into my hair. I love the smell though! Yesterday I mixed it in my hand with some AOHC and applied it to my damp clean mini twists. Mmmmm! Smile

Hmmm....it's not supposed to be hard at all. What are you doing to that poor detangler, lol? It's soft and turns clear when I rub it between my fingers. I love it! Sometimes I just leave that in my daughter's hair and it works fine. I'm going to jack your idea about mixing it with something else when doing twists. I'm going to mix it with the Burdock Root Cream when I do my eldest child's hair. Thanks! Very Happy

I mix about a tsp of KKKT with distilled water and a 1/2 tsp of evoo and a few drops of peppermint oil in a 4 oz bottle to detangle my daughters fine hair. Make sure to use distilled H2O so that it will not start smelling funny after a few days. I have also used the QB Cocoa detangling ghee on her dripping wet hair which worked amazingly without being too heavy.

:-( It was hard when it came! Honest! I blame the cold. I'm gonna keep it in a warm place and see if it softens.

I dont think i will be interested in using Oil in my daughter hair yet. Its really fine. When she was a baby she had craddle cap and i used oil that would take days to wash out.

I may have found my mix tho! @Thanks Jo i mixed water with Giovanni leave in and it worked well!

@freckle i do not like KKKT for myself i may start diluting that as well! I wash her hair everyday so hopefully i wont have that issue. Does it smell in the bottle or just her hair?

Tap water will start to smell in the bottle after a while. I guess the unfiltered bacteria and impurities that are in it make it sour and smell like mildew. You could try boiling the water before you use it though. I usually buy distilled water from walmart to drink (89 cents a gallon) so I have it when I make mixes.
