For the first time, I actually just used one styling product on my hair today, instead of a little of this and a little of that.

I washed & conditioned in the shower, put on my Kinky Curly Leave in, sealed with a bit of the Qhemets Balm, and finished with the Eco-Styler gel. And that was it. That is huge for me, because normally I'll wash and condition and by the time I'm done, I've got 7 or 8 products in my hair trying to get my curls right.

Sounds great! When I first read the title, I thought you mean just one product which is hard for me though I try it sometimes depending on how I wear my hair.

I was like you when I first discovered all the natural hair care help online. I started using a ton of products and soon realized that my hair simply didn't like all the products on my hair. I started using only the necessary products and my hair flourished. For me, less in definitely best!

Thanks for sharing!!

Less is more...definitly...
I co-washed and only put Infusium23 and ORS Replenishing Conditioner in my hair and did the accordion style to define my curls.

But it's soooo hard! If you've got a lot of products, it feels like they're going to waste! I feel sorry for them and used them to make them feel wanted! Embarassed

lol....i feel like that too sometimes...thank goodness i have a newly natural chica that i work with. i made a big goodie bag of all my unused/half used stuff and gave it to her.

now i use castor oil, water, kimmaytube leave in and flaxseed gel. i had to go on the PJ journey though to find out what worked for me.

woot!

edit: and yldthng, i love your piece-y chunky curls...when i had my twa i always tried to do mine like that but it never did pale

Less is more!!!!! I co-wash with whatever is laying around, use sheamoisture smoothie, and coconut oil to seal.

@MissyCee accordian method is the curly girl method to encourage your curls to form. you scrunch up your hair from tip to root. google it or yt it.

Thanks for replying ladies!!

@sydnisd183 - Thank you! The KCCC makes it do that the best. I really like it - i just wish my hair were thicker so it wasn't "scalpy".

I was proud of myself again today - this morning, I didn't wash or co-wash. I just misted it with my water/EVOO spritz, added tiny bit of KCKT leave in, and added a little SheaMoisture Curling Smoothie.

So less works just fine - I've just got to practice restraint when I'm reaching for product after product. My problem is that I still don't really know "what" my hair likes.

In my quest to use just one styling product/curl definer per day, today I used my Curls Curl Creme Brule. This is the first time I've used it alone. When I say alone, that doesn't count my leave in and sealers.

So I washed/conditioned in the shower, added a bit of the Qhemets balm, added the Curls Curl Cream Brule, and finished with a little herbal oil.

I like really like the curls - they are similar to the Kinky Curly curls, but not quite. I like how they feel - when I run my hand over them, they pop up as i pass over them. They are not hard at all - they're kinda springy. As I was typing this, I realized I forgot to use my Knot Today leave in. It would probably be better if I had used that as well.

Anyway, here's a pic: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

OK, so after washing today, I used two products - about a quarter-sized dollop of my Herbal Essences Hello Hydration conditioner as a leave-in, followed by about a dime-sized dollop of the Qhemets OHHB.

*wonders to self why I've bought all this other stuff with the curls this gave me*
