Any body on here from New York??

Hi all I'm from New York and I moved backed here from GA about three to four months ago so my question is do they have any natrual hair events in the city... I hopping to go events to meet new people and socialize more and make new friends...

I'm originally from Brooklyn (Bushwick w00t w00t!) but I live in Queens now. As far as events in the city, I'm not sure. A hair gathering usually happens in spring and summer. I haven't been because I'm usually at work. But, stay tuned to the Meet Up thread; if a natural event goes down, it'll be posted there. Welcome to the forums!

Hey fellow New Yorker!! I also lived in GA for a short period of time back in the day. AS LadyMika said people from this site and a few others put together meet ups. I attended one in 09 I believe it was pretty cool. Most of the time in the summer certain events like Harlem Week or the African Street Festival in BK are really cool places to see other women who rock natural styles. Whenever I go I always end up having convos with females about hair so they'r also good to meet people, but again its not til the weather gets nice.

I never did any of the meet-ups but if there is one in the Apple I think I may go. They sound like fun. Like LadyMika said watch the meet up thread... Ill be watching too.

I'm not a native New Yorker, I live in white bread Ohio. But, my bf lives in Flatbush so I'm there every month. If something comes up I'd like to know also. Obviously I'm more likely to find something there then out here in the sticks!!

No I'm just being funny!!! I live in Oberlin, OH. A small college town about an hour from Cleveland. Cute town. The one saving grace it has is the Oberlin College. It's an extremely liberal arts college that attracts an ecclectic bunch of students, domestic and international. But without that little bit of flavor, it would be "white bread". Born and raised tho.

I am a Brooklyn native. There were a few natural hair events last month. The next major one is in April 16th and 17th, 2011, the "Chic & Kinky Expo"

im from the Bronx...i cant wait for the Chic and Kinky Expo....im also thinking about going to the Natural hair Expo in ATL depending on how this one goes....@LovingMe they plowed my block yesterday thank God....did they do yours?

im not from NY (im a southern girl lol) but i go there every summer to visit family a shop!!..Jamaica Queens has the best shopping!!!! I fall in love with conway and strawberry every time Im up there..

I'm in NY as well! Manhattan to be exact.

Fellow New Yorker born in harlem, raised between brooklyn and upper west side, lived in Staten Island for a bit and now in Queens. The natural scene is definitely more alive in the warmer months I noticed, it's always exciting!

I'm not aware of any meetups here but I'll definitely be on the lookout for the expo

New York in the "House" lives in Queens. @ RayRay.I am know what u mean about Conway & Strawberry . I am in Jamaica almost every weekend goes to gym there (Jamaica is crazy..lol)

I'm here in White Plains. I didn't know about the chic and kinky expo, but will look into it right now. I have been hoping for some kind of natural hair meet up for a while now.
