want growth Empty want growth

Hi,

I have this client that really have hair issues. She have been natural since November 2009. Meaning she Big Chopped and went through the seagull looking stage. Since then her hair has grown somewhat but she doesn't believe its at its full potential (she's looking for growth). She have not found a holy of holy hair products yet and her hair seems to love a product at first then it dries and her hair becomes thirsty again. She advised that she is a person deep into hair care so she find herself ordering products like crazy, a product junky. Protective styles she tried are: the braid outs and twist outs.

Her natural hair is weird because the front is straight and the back has some coils and kinks. She really don't have an afro, she states she never did.

I would like to know, what you suggest she can try to combat her hair texture (from straight and kinky curl patterns-3C hair type) to make her natural hair journey not so stressful? I would like to help her as best as I can before she resorts to relaxing or chemically treat her hair.

Thanks for your help.

Naturally Yours,

Shona

protective styling & patience. there is no way around it. tell her to stop worrying about growth. once she's not focused soo much on it is when she'll start to see it.

LOL....I was wondering about that too BeautifullyMehh. What does the seagull looking stage look like??? But i agree with abba. My hair is about a 3c too I believe and protective styles are working for me. And moisture moisture moisture. Tell her to take extra care or her ends. More moisture on the ends and keep them hidden from the elements and clothing. Bunning is a good style (if her hair is long enough) so that her hair won't rub on her clothes.

lol, thank you for the response... when she says "Seagull" she is referring to it being low enough to be slicked back. I will relay your responses. Thanks a mil.

Also, make sure she knows she will need to moisturize her hair 3 times as much as she did with relaxed hair. If she is applying product today and 5 days later her hair is dry...it may not be the product. It may just be that she needs to moisturizer more ofter than every 5 days. During the winter, I moisturize every other day. It sounds like our hair is similar. The front is very course but straight, the crown is S curl, the back and sides are very coily and in some areas kinky, and the nape is S curl.
