Best Twisting Product
Hey ladies been a minute since I posted but I've been lurking. My question is what product is best for twisting if I am planning on leaving them in long term? Any suggestion definitely welcome but locally would be ideal so I can have access quickly. Thanks In Advance....

Re: Best Twisting Product
Hello,
I have great success with Eco-styler olive oil gel and I apply vatika oil every morning. Or I have also used the lock twist gel by organics, I like the hold but it does make your hair shrink.
HTH

H-E-Y M-Z T-H-A-N-G!!!!! Welcome of out lurkdom!! I always wonder what you were up to!!
So when you say long term, what do you mean? Any kind of gel product would help your twist last longer. I would suggest ORS Lock and Twist gel (nice firm hold without being crunchy) or Koils By Nature gels (medium hold but hair will be soft).

I agree with Lynnie. I personally like the ORS lock and twist gel. The first time I tried it, I didn't really care for it (maybe because I applied to dry hair). I recently revisited it and decided to twist my hair in an updo after washing and dc'ing. I applied my leave in condish and then the ORS Lock & twist to my hair while it was damp. I love the way my twists turned out! HTH!

Thanks Ladies.....
Hey Lynnie I'm back in school so the adjustment going from working full-time to school full-time was a little tuff....first semester down so hopefully this next one will be easy. I'm trying to twist my hair up in mini twist and leave them in for at least a month or two if possible.

I have much success with clear ecostyler gel. The gel has a very good hold. Some people complain of dryness with the gel. As long as I deep condition before placing the gel in my hair then I have not experienced dryness. HTH. A lot of my styles in my fotki have been done with ecostyler gel. I am from St. Louis too.

Raw shea butter (beige) mixed with coconut oil and a little olive oil will add moisture and hold.

Re: Best Twisting Product
I've used the EcoStyler pink gel with my shea butter mix (to cut the crunch), and had twists that lasted a week before washing. I used it for my current twists (started on Friday), and they're still holding up.
Re: Best Twisting Product
I'm hesitant to recommend it because of all the controversy, but Afroveda Hemp Seed Lock Twist and Roll Butter is the best in my opinion.

Girl, don't hesitate! You never know, you probably found her holy grail product FOR her!
Re: Best Twisting Product
I have used ORS and the hold is too hard for me, I have used shea butter, and oils and I liked the softness but not great hold. I am now on Afroveda totally twisted ginger almond butter and its perfect, nice hold and softness. A little goes a long way.

I haven't made/tried any yet but I've heard good things about flax seed gel (moisturizing, good hold, no alcohol or drying ingredients)

Oh yeah I forgot about that one. I like that as well but I'm not sure if it's my best. It doesn't really have as much hold as the ORS. Lock & twist

For shame, lol
Just kidding, pre October 2010 was good. Post October 2010 it sucked road kill. Yet another formula released December 2010. Sorry but afroveda can bite me lol plus the price is just insane plus her lies drives me crazy. Just hate liars with a passion in my book u mightest well tell me u touch little children, I can't stand a liar, and I'm so serious with that one.
But hey u like what u like
I twist now with darcys twisting cream and add a dash of Eco styled in the end. For my wash and gies it curl magic all the way with Eco styler curl magic costs too much so I get it on swap boards
Re: Best Twisting Product
Lately my twist have been holding up well my homemade moisturizer or just a 50/50 mix of sheabutter and coconut oil. My last set of twist lasted for four weeks and the current set is almost two weeks old.
