its ok to straighten your hair..many natural actually do this over the winter months...just make sure you use a good heat protectant

check out you tube..theirs tons of videos on naturals who flat iron their hair, prettydimples just flat iron hers

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c63bOPsi4D8

That's one of the beauty of natural hair..we can wear our hair in many ways straight, curly, twist, ect. its very versatile..

Don't give up! You have options. If you don't want to risk heat damage, invest in a good weave! It's a great protective style for winter (when done right) and by the time you're ready to take it out, you'll be missing your curls!

You can blow your hair out. I recommend using a heat protectant and use a medium setting on your blow dryer and flat iron to prevent damage. That's one of the pros of being natural: Versatility!

I agree natural hair is very versatile. I straightened my hair for the first time a few months ago and I was amazed at the amount of growth that I have had. Like everyone else stated, make sure that you use a good heat protectorant. The crazy thing is that whenever I straighten my hair, I miss my curls.

Dont give it up. From what I see in your pic your hair looks VERY nice!
is it that you are getting bored?
me too.
8 months in.
went to get my hair done today. Got it blown out and flat ironed and IM IN LOVE!:-)
change it up.
Maybe try to come up with a rotation of styles so you dont get bored.
by the way, what style is your hair in the pic, is that a weave, braid out, etc?

if you get bored with styles really fast, a sew-in may not be the best option. as for me I don't keep sew-ins, braids, etc. long at all so i rarely get them anymore. there are many styling options for your natural/transitioning hair. on the curly nikki home page, there is a "styles" tab at the top of the page u may want to check out. also, peruse you tube for inspiration.... good luck chica!
