Re: MIXED CHICKS SUBSTITUTE
I don't like Giovanni either! I bought a HUGE bottle at TJMaxx and my daughter is finishing it off because it did nothing for my hair. It doesn't really do anything for her hair either but she just uses it as a moisturizer then puts a creamy styler on top.
You can't see in my Avatar because my hair is straight right now but I think we have a similar curl pattern and thickness (maybe). If so, I'd be surprised if you don't like SheaMoisture from Target...
Good luck!

I tried the Giovanni leave-in as well and my hair came out very straw-like, I tried it a few times to make sure it wasn't a fluke. I gave it to my brother who is also natural, but our textures are very different.

Kinky Curly Knot Today is a leave-in or rinse out conditioner and can be found in some Targets and Whole Foods for $11.99. It's an 8oz bottle so I only use as a leave in. I love Knot Today...great moisture and slip!!! I can't use it alone, as a styler, for out/ down styles but if I'm just going to bun or ponytail, it's great with an oil to seal!
