A funny convo I just heard...

Sooo...I was in the BSS and two girls were talking, one was saying how she wanted the number to a certain salon because she knows a girl who goes there and her hair is long. The other girl said "girl just grab one of these box perms and I'll hook you up". Than the other girl looks at her like she just suggested to dye her hair blue or something and responds with "Hell naw box perms are not good for your hair, I need the salon to do it" I softly CRACKED up in my head about the lack of hair knowledge. Yes, permed hair can be healthy but it was funny that the thought of a box perm was seen as "worse" than a salon brand name perm. lol

LMAO smh not knowing that the salon perm might just be the same perm they sell at the BSS store SMH lol it's just in professional sizes

lol right or that it was better because it cost $60 and not $6

lol i know right smh .. i went to my local BSS the other day i had on my afro wig i wen to get some black soap and as i was paying and i saw this women paying for perms and mineral oil filled products with those , glues and weaves i felt so good about myself with my black soap because i use to be that girl getting th glue the weave the grease the perm and all that smh what was i thinking ? lol
But you know the worst part is when you try to explain things to some people they look at you like you are an alien with 3 eyes

Yess,,, I used to be a faithful scalp greaser!!! Lol, when people noticed that my twa is growing they say " why did you cut ur hair if youre just going to grow it right back" Im trying to explan how I didnt cut it for it to stay short but to go back to my natural texture, and they are confused beyond this world. Lol

Oh and the other day I did 5 cornrows to the back and my friend was like "oh you doing that so it can be curly when you take it out" Noooo my hair is already curly im doing this to stretch it. The look she gave me was so dumbfounded lol.

I thought about saying something to the BSS girls, but I probably would have end up in a argument lol

lol yea many girls do not know that salons are using those same box perms and they paying $50 for them...

and lol I just started banding my hair to stretch it and my roommates thought I was seriously crazy! lol they was like "what you doing to your hair? I hope your not leaving it like that??" I was like nooo im stretching it!! and that's exactly where i lost them too lol but its ok cause whenever we go out they know my hair will be on point!

Now back on the subject- the other day I went to work with a chunky twist out.... I was feeling super fly until that old black lady decided to school me on the fact that my hair wasnt done enough for work.
Now, mind u, there are not a whole lot of us there but she was the only one with something bad to say...
I had to politely explain to her that my hair was just fine and to please not worry about me...

Yes ladies...I have a friend that said one day after I came out the shower (applied condish and UFD Curly Magic) "your hair is gorgeous all curly like that" Now you have to understand I always wear wash and go's but I like more of the curly fro look...I was a little tight because I realized that my very good friend (latino) didnt appreciate my hair without the curls...
And that very curly is the only acceptable natural look...SMH

I cannot change anyone...I just wish we would all learn to respect what happens naturally in eachother's heads...lol...U Feel Me?

Aw thanx JeanLouis! I came across my fro by accident and its been love at first sight ever since! It is kinda crazy how people have these misconceptions about hair. Lol, like if you're light skinned it should be curly or long and straight. If you're dark it has to be uber tight and it will always be short. I wonder about people sometimes...

Though I never had a perm, I think I would react as your friend did if I had ever considered one.

It may be not be so much as where you buy it as WHO'S doing my hair. Call me naive, but I'd rather go to someone who's licensed and trained with references to do my hair than some 'Pookie and 'en' from down the street that's itching to "hook me up".

lol..how bout NOT getting a "relaxer"at all; i mean all together ur hair is suffering and so is ur scalp~
