Any hair type can use honey--it's a humectant (pulls in moisture) and adds shine. You can mix it with your conditioner when you DC, and add it to shea mixes.

Yeah. I add honey and evoo in my cholesterol for deep conditioning and i love it!! It really does make the hair shinier. and it's easier to mix in that you might think. Give it a try, you'll probably like it!! Very Happy

There is a video on you tube that makes honey and aloe gel I just saw it last night and I really want to give that a try soon.. But I do what the ladies do here mix it in their DC and I also want to try Honey rinse.. Where you mix about 2 tbsp of honey to about 2 cups or warm water and pour it over your hair after you have conditioned your hair and don't rinse

HI LADIES? I HAVE A QUICK QUESTION ABOUT HONEY. I JUST BOUGHT THIS SHEA MOISTURE MASQUE THAT I WANT TO TRY FOR A DEEP CONDITIONING TREATMENT. IM WONDERING IF I CAN ADD HONEY TO IT OR DOES THE DT PRODUCT NEED TO BE OF A CERTAIN BRAND OR SPECIFIC TYPE TO ADD HONEY? BTW, I HAVE TYPE 4 HAIR. NOT SO CERTAIN ABOUT THE SUBCATEGORY THOUGH.

THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT.

Hey Briana!! And welcome to CN. You can put honey in any conditioner you want. It shouldn't hurt anything.

@Briana - I LOVE the Shea Moisture Masque. I DC with it once a week. I tried another DC last week...the results were definitely not the same so I washed it out and can't wait to DC with my SMM again this weekend Smile

I want to mix in some honey this time. Does anyone know how much honey I should use?

I have never tried just honey and Olive oil....but I think it will work...

for my DC I mix

2 tbs honey
1 tbs EVOO
1 tbs Coconut oil
2 tbs of ORS Replenishing Conditioner
put all ingredients in a glass container and heat over a pot of boiling water .
To mix use either a handmixer or a whisk. You get a really nice creamy conditioner.

I like to use honey in my DCs.

I have heard people using it in their shea mixes - but I live in a tropical country and am scared of having my head attacked by ANTS!

Any thoughts on this? I don't want to end up on the evening news...
