What now?!?! (sorry for the rant)
So I BCd about a month ago and with much advice from some lovely ladies at CN I was able to get past the dry, brittle hair. Now I am back in a rut. My mother has been so supportive and she kept telling me that she was always able to just use water and grease on my hair, so I took that info and ran with it. I found that my hair LOVES LOVES LOVES water as a staple mioisturizer, and it is very fond of shea butter leave in. Well after a bout with the flu I learned that it is time to stop going out with a wet head in the mornings. My hair is NOT happy . I am still trying to revive it by just use my spritz bottle (EVOO, shea butter leave in, and water) & carol daughter's hair milk but that is not working. I feel like a complete basket case, I don't wanna "relapse" but this is so tough. My hair is fine, but super thick. Even with only 1-2 inches of hair all you feel is hair, no scalp. I know that I have curl pattern, because when I wash I can feel all those little corkscrews. But as soon as it dries it is instant afro (which I am really starting to love) but its so dry & no shine. I have attempted to finger curl to get more style without frizz, but yea I definitely don't have time for that, I gave up after about 40 minutes and a horribly sore shoulder. Please ladies what are some of your ideas to help me make it through this winter..without pneumonia :-). Sorry this is so long I am just at the point where I see so much out there but the products I have used and didn't like have kinda discouraged me so I don't know what to buy now.

When your products are not working that is usually a sign that you have product build up and need to clarify. Try an ACV rinse (2TBS apple cider vinegar in 8oz of water), then shampoo with sulfate free shampoo, DC, condition, and style.
Always balance moisture and protein in your products http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/278612/the_fine_art_of_protein_and_moisture.html?singlepage=true&cat=69
Try shampooing etc at night so that it will be dry by morning. Lightly spritz first thing in the AM to refresh. Your hair should be dry by the time you leave home.

Hi Rissi,
Not sure if this will make you feel better, but you mentioned that you were hesitant to go outside with a wet head of hair because of your past illness (flu). I just wanted to assure you that you going out with wet hair did not cause you to get the flu since the flu is a virus that is spread from person to person from droplets of virus in the air. Nor will it cause you to catch pneumonia since a bacteria or virus. Best preventative measures for both of these is routine handwashing. The only downside of going outside with a wet head in the winter is that it might not be a pleasant experience :-)
I don't mean to be all science-y on you, but I just didn't want you to worry about getting sick unecessarily when it seems that your hair likes water.
In terms of hair, I am transitioning and planning to big chop in about two weeks. I am excited and slightly fearful at the same time since I don't have very much support around me. I come from a family that's all about relaxers, lol! Anyway, I'm going to do it because at this point I am tired of the two textures and I feel ready to begin taking care of 100% natural hair. I think at some point there comes a time when you feel ready and you should definitely wait until that time. Good luck with your transition and I hope that you find a product that works for you!

Thanx so much Labrat.....I do appreciate it. You kno how it is gettin all those ol wives tales outta your head..lol. Good luck with your BC, I think you'll love it. After doing more experiments last night I realized I have a lot more relaxer left in my hair than I thought, and I'm starting to think that could be the problems. Right now I am going to focus on my what works a lil more, keep all that in a journal and find be a good stylist who is supportive of my decision. Gotta luv this trial and error stage. I will probably be gettin braids soon to help out with the winter months anyway....and invest in some hand sanitizer. :-) thanx again
