Kez - I'm back......
Hey, im Kez, 27 from Portsmouth, England!
Im trnasitioning by accident, basically, I was looking for holiday hairstyles that would allow me to not have to straighten with irons whilst on holiday, but I have an alkaline perm on my ends and maybe 2/3 of my hair . . .so its a bit of a challenge..but searching for styles and watching youtube, I came across Curly Nikki - and somehow ended up transitioning, im in my 3rd week! So very new!
I havent had an Alkaline perm for mths to be fair and it is less harsh than relaxers but still its isnt good either!
I have i think 3a/c hair with a little 3c, well I did, but i know all the pulling about has affected the re-growth of my hair, its not as curly as it once was... and that actually really makes me sad - so im going to salavge and replinish it, but I wont be BC'ing.
I struggle with definition/lasting hold with Braidouts and 2strand twists (though tips were twist on damp, braid on wet -so will try that), im also learning about products.
I cleared all mine out last night and lost a bagful of stuff and stocked up on Naked Shea Butter and Olive Oil Condish, Organix Cocconut Milk Intensive Condish Treatment (heats up on appliation!) and Organix Serum too - i binned every product I had that had a 'Cone' or Sulphate in it or Polyquantarium . . i was left with nothing bar new bits and my Boots Curl Creme! (i struggle to find your products in UK which makes it tougher!)
Anyways, I will update this will success or disasters and just as I feel, and hope some of you take a look and would like to keep in touch with me!
Lots of Love and Curls, Kez
...Now some pics to keep you amused :-)
Me aged 2 and a hlf/3
Me about 16/17 with Braids (i started a trend with fellow white girls at my school who didnt even have afros lol - not so keen now but i loved it back then - im in the Pink!)
Wedding Day 5th Oct 2007, its short on one side then bobbed on other - permed straight again
Me and the hubby in June '08 with a curly Perm - loved it here though!
Again summer 08
Then how i wore it for most of 2008/9
Chopped and straightened ..
Then half weave to grow out above for a while . .
Then to these now . . .
a straight perm in few mths back, waved with irons (in London Underground!)
Then couple weeks back with a rushed 20mins braidout! (with my sister on the right :-) )
So there you have it, au naturelle i go, let the journey begin!
Lots of love and curls

Hey ladies,
Just thought I would update with some pics of the weekend (bored at work at 8.47am on a miserable Monday lol!!)
These are me and Ella on Friday night, before going out for dinner (in her little dress I made her!)
This was still my disasterous twist out, which i repaired with a headscarf and messy bun at back!)
This week - tonight or tomo, im going to try my first co-wash and braid out with flexi rods on the ends so i will get some pics of the process and after! Here's hoping cos if it works, I shall be wearing it Sat night at my wedding anniversary party!
Have a nice day ladies! xxxxx

Re: Kez - I'm back......
Hey ladies,
Well, today im really fed up, i did another braid out, on wet hair after co-wash.
I applied some Coconut Serum, the Dark and Lovely Moisturiser, Cocnut oil to seal, then my curl creme, braided 22 plaits (bobbled ends as min dont hold their own well), then i added another Coconut oil, more paste/buttery like) to my ends and excess over my plaits - then i added flexi rods, kept these in for about 3hrs as woudnt be able to sleep in thm, i also sat under my 'inflatable' bonet dryer for 15mins later that eve before rods came out - slept under satin scarf - took braids out, all excited and basically bar the odd tight one, a total mess - again! Im sooooooo fed up - i am gonna have to use a styling mouse which i really didnt want to - my hairs so soft at the mo - which is great from using good products but i cant hold a style (except 2strand twist bantu knots - but they give me too much shinrkage - but 2 strand twist alone, doesnt curl enough!) - WTF, this is so annoying . . some pics!!
Briads in rods (some had 2 braids per rod)
Ha ha How crazy is this thing, but does the trick i guess (cant get a Bonet Dryer where I am!)
The mess i had to deal with this morning, not joking, i nearly cried, it was still damp in places a tad whcih doesnt help - but i was advised do them on wet hair, but i obviously dont have time (weekdays anyways as its not working, or i will reluctantly have to stay under dryer a lot longer!)
Sooooo, only thing i could do was put a band roudn front for short bits as growing out a Fringe(Bangs?) from when it was straight and then put in a messy pony after fluffing . . . like this! Still, not what i was after :-(

Re: Kez - I'm back......
I’m sorry you are frustrated. I think the problem may be too many products. Your hair has been chemically altered to be straight, and your curl pattern is loose/wavy. I think all the products are weighing down your hair. I would suggest the following.Kez wrote:Hey ladies,

-Do not apply products to soaking wet hair
-Apply moisturizer to damp hair (can plop using tee shirt, think men’s undershirt until 60% or more dry) in scrunching motion, take ends of hair and push them towards scalp/roots of hair—this promotes clumping
-Apply a little oil to ends only then a little curl crème (nothing more)
-For tight waves, make more braids and for looser waves, make fewer braids
-To help with volume and fullness, pull dry, loose hair to front of head (at forehead with a hair band)—can be done in as few minutes as 15 to overnight. Bend down and scrunch hair some more while upside down.
Check out taren916 on YT, she has big loose curls like you.

Oh, ladies, I have mailed it to Nikki - but here is a link (nothing in particular, me saying Hey!!) to a YouTube Video, I have had a few few peeps comment on my Brittish accent, saying they wanted to hear it lol, so i thought i give you all a little smile and record one - hopefully Nikki will post it, but here you go!
As I say, nothing useful or anything - though will hopefully add some as had a request for Leopard Print Eyeshadow Tutorial...

Hey ladies, how you all been.
Well, yet again ther 2strand twists Knots did not let me down - I wore my hair in a kinda french pleat at the back and all loose at front, looked quite funky i thought!!
Pics not hugely clear but will give some indication.
Im gonna try braids into Knots, might give them the extra push they need! Exciting as i'll be co-washing tomo and will try!
me and Ant (The Hubby)
I'll let you know how Braid out Knots go! Wish me luck! xx

Re: Kez - I'm back......
Hey ladies,
How are we all? (Im ill, shaking off a Virus booo!!)
So washed hair etc last night and did Braids on wet hair then into Bantu Knots - i woke to wet hair still, so sat under bonet for 10mins, took knots out, then dried a little more (the braids) then took STILL wet braids out and dried again - whasts annoying is i could see the shape forming from the braids but it dropped due to wetness (i had them in 11hrs so next time i will have to go under Bonet for longer before bed - annoying as wanted to avoid heat and been doing a good job of it til this morning!)
Anyways, the Braid out isnt your usual braid out, but im kinda feeling it anyways, here's a pic or two! Oh, here is a pic as im gonna monitor my growth each mth!
My hair is wet, you cant see curl as hair is layered so all the straight ends take over - i took about and inch plus of in most places a couple of nights ago which has gotten rid of most cripsy ends! HUbby even commented on how heatlthy my hairs getting since taking proper care of it - bless! :-)
Lots of love and curls xx
