My twist out has been looking....."sick"
Ok, just realized how "transistah" sounded but at any rate.
Im about 4-5 months post relaxer. (Do JESUS, this is not easy for me..)
My twist outs look great some days but lately they've been looking a little, thin....flat...and not as defined.
I've been using Miss jessie's. is it possible that i've got some product buildup? even though I wash or cowash every 4-6 days? I am not a HUGE fan of the curly buttercreme Im using, but im also not a huge fan of putting $32 in the trashcan.
recently discovered that I like ecostyler on my edges, it defines the lil waves up there. however, it DOES give me some residue. I can't very well add GEL to the length of my hair for a twist out can i? and if i do, i may get residue all up and down myhair shaft. NOT CUTE at work, at all.
Also, in the morning my twist outs are looking WAY better than they are at the end of the day. my relaxed hair is almost straight by the end of the day. sometimes i know its humidity, but what on earth am i supposed to do about that?
I LOVE twist outs. Not a fan of weaves or braids. and i do not want to flat iron my roots all the time.
I like the look but im not willing to go through all of this just to have DAMAGED natural hair. all help is appreciated!

hmm... from the sounds of it (the residue thing) I think that maybe you have product build-up. Maybe you should use a mild, sulfate free shampoo next time you wash? Or I think some people clarify and remove build up with an apple cider vinegar rinse instead of using a shampoo.
I think using gel to the length of your hair will give you better definition and help the relaxed hair stay set longer.
Actually, now that I think about it, maybe you get residue because the products you're using don't mix. Are you using the buttercreme AND gel? If so, take a little of each and mix it up in your palm. If it kind of beads up and gets chunky and weird looking, then mixing those products in your hair will give you residue and white beads/gunk in your hair.
HTH!

Thanks CurlyDee. I only use sulfate free shampoos.
I think I am going to try an acv rinse tonight.
I've only ever done 1 and im about 4 months PR
i dont put the buttercreme on my edges. I try to leave my edges strictly for the gel.

A lot of people have had success using ecostyler on the length of there hair and for their twists. I have used it for a twist out...but I mixed it with conditioner and oils so I would have softer results.

Hey, I posted a Q on twist outs . .but wonder, with all your twist outs, do you get results on Wet? Damp? or Dry hair? Mine was nearer wet and didnt work?
ChynaDoll, I'm new to all this, but I have heard that you need to Cleanse/Clarify Hair on a regualr basis to stop build up, so hopefully, the ACV will do the trick for you, as like you said, at first they were coming out really well. .. .let us know how you get on
Good luck :-)
