I just looked it up because I've been wanting to order some myself. It was sheaessentials.com and I think it costs $5.50 with free shipping.

Yeah!!! I was looking for Shea butter today and it was at least $10 at Target and Whole Foods and the containers were so small. I think I'll try this place.

I received my order yesterday and it smells like the shea butter you get from the BSS or flea markets.....that strong nutty smell.

I know some people use it to seal in moisture. I haven't used it in awhile, but when I was using it I mixed it with other oils. With this new batch I just received I'm going to try a new mixture with some kind of liquid (water, aloe vera juice or green tea). I'm just going to experiment!

Lol so sorry it stood for 'whatever'.
Do you have to keep the shea in the fridge or can you leave it out?

Oh okay. Duh!! lol. I didn't put it in the fridge when I just added oils. But if I add aloe juice or tea to it I'll probably keep it in there.

Niqui- how does that work? i mean the mixing shea butter with liquids such as tea, water etc? And do you notice any benefits when mixing it with aloe vera juice?

I personally have not tried it yet. But I've seen recipes and videos on it on YouTube. Some people say shea butter alone is not moisturizing unless you add water to it, so it's just something I want to try. I really didn't care for shea butter alone or mixed with oils which is why I haven't used it in a long time. I'm just curious myself to see how my hair will like it mixed with some type of liquid.KCC09 wrote:Niqui- how does that work? i mean the mixing shea butter with liquids such as tea, water etc? oh, ok. I just thought that you would need some type of emulsifier to mix a liquid with shea butter. I also was curious as to what the consistency would be like as well as how it would have to be stored to discourage bacterial growth.

In a video I watched it was a nice creamy mix. I don't remember the lady using an emulsifier either. I'm just gonna make a very small batch to see what I come up with. I just plan to have fun with it.
