Transitioning Styles?
I'm about two months into my transition and I'm desperately in need of something to do with my hair. I tried a bantu knot out yesterday and it looked alright, but it looked so bad this morning that I ended up washing my hair again and blow drying it. I'm a little discouraged, ladies. Any suggestions?

Re: Transitioning Styles?
Well it depends on what kind of styles you like.. braid outs.. twist outs..and bantu knots are great during transitions because they blend the textures..
Also be sure that your hair is moisturized when doing these styles to help day 2 turn out better..
when yu go to bed on day 1, try to loosly braid your hair in medium sized sections to try to keep the pattern so it doesnt turn out squashed the next day
be sure to replenish moisture everyday ! your hair will thank you !
hth :]

I used braids while I transitioned for all of 1 month lol but yea braids are real easy to take care as long as you keep the moisturized and they also serve as a good protective style because you can keep your hands out your hair

I'm open to try pretty much anything. I'm going back to college soon, so low-maintenance is probably better. I'm thinking about getting kinky twists but I do want to learn how to handle my hair. I'll definitely try your tips as well, ladykay!

When I first tried bantu knot out it was a frizzy undefined mess by the end of the day (Jamaica's humidity don't play lol) but the more moisture I added into my hair, the less my hair had to seek out in the air if that makes any sense.
I think you just need to experiment some more with different measurements and products until you find your holy grail. The different products don't matter as much when you have the fundamentals: moisture (water), a sealant (coconut, olive, jojoba oil; you can add a butter after to seal the moisture in better) and a holding product (I use honey/AV juice).
Keep trying Practice makes supafly hair eventually!!

This may come across as a weird question but do you use a particular type or brand of honey ?

I would combine them in a spray bottle and use some extra jojoba oil to seal your ends.
As for the amounts I'd use half water/ half av juice (i have the gallon bottle tho) and maybe 2 tsp jojoba oil?

Re: Transitioning Styles?
I am almost 9 months in transitioning.. & i have no idea what or how to do my hair.. when i use to get relaxers it was always easy b.c i just straightened it & went on with my day. Since I've been w/o a relaxer I rarely straighten my hair since its harder to keep done. I have been experimenting & come up with a couple of cute ideas but I am limited to styles since i can't really braid.. Does anybody have any ideas??

Do You know how to flat twist? If you know how to do that there is this link from youtube and this girl explains really well how to flat twists and then bantu knot the ends of your hair so that the ends are protected. I just tried it last night and my hair blended well with the two textures. i'm 2 weeks away from 6 months into transitioning but here is the link
