Still confused about moisturizers
I have Oyin Handmade's Juices and berries leave in conditioner (in a spray bottle). Can I use this as my moisturizer? I use this and then I use shea butter or coconut oil to seal. I know the moisturizer must be water based but I wasn't sure if it had to be creamy for proper moisturization (is that a word? lol). So I guess I'm asking....can a moisturizer be liquid and not creamy to be effective?

I definitely think a liquid can be effective as a moisturizer. If you feel your hair does well and continues to stay moisturized using this technique, keep doing so.
I used to just use Jane Carter Leave In and coconut oil on top and that worked for me.

Tweedledee, I was confused about this too. Then I read up on the awesome articles at Natural Haven. Between this and info from the Curl Whisperer, I know EXACTLY why certain products stop working or don't work as well, etc. Here is a summary post on moisture and hair, with links to all the other articles about moisture:

I personally think creamy works better (well at least for thicker strands). Water based moisturizers like leave ins, have water in it which leaves your hair quicker, but if you have the shea butter I guess it's fine since shea butter is already a moisturizer. Maybe you want to mix the shea butter and leave in, then use coconut oil to seal?

Ok so yeah I have heard the same things!! I read (cant rememeber the link) that you need a water based moisturizer, followed by a cream based moisturizer, and finally an oil or butter to seal...
I also am having trouble finding a cream based moisturizer... I have just been skipping that step... I am pretty sure thats not a good idea. Any ideas on a good cream based moisturizer for a transitioner...?
Tank ya!!!
