Starting on a new journey of just loving life and myself. I've always wanted to do locs and so after I dyed my hair purple yesterday I've got a set of twists in and I'm just gonna let them do what they do.

I want to twist my hair. But i can't lift my left arm really or find all of my clips. I know I'm going to find them as soon as I buy more by the way.

Anywho I'm just running my hand through them to make sure they aren't eating each other.

2 weeks old before and after tightening:

I really like doing hair. Like it's hard to do on my own head sometimes but I can't wait to have a little girl to do her hair. And I love the process of dying my hair. I'm a lot more DIY than I thought I would be when I first went natural in 2007. They're going well. Fuzzy but that's to be expected. This week's retightening (I'm doing it every Sunday) went a lot better than last week's. Last week I used HE's Set Me Up gel and I just...yeah no. Which bummed me out because I like it on my loose hair to hold my curls. I normally use a cream leave in under it though so that might have something to do with it.

Anywho, this week I used Oyin Handmade's Burnt Sugar Pomade on top of clean hair that had been washed and conditioned and then spritzed with Aussie's Hair Insurance (which I started using a few weeks ago before I started the locs and I'm loving it more every day). It was good. I need to find a clean spray bottle to keep my hair moist. Or re-tightern quicker. My shoulder slowed me down this week.

I love the color! And it must feel SO good when you twist/tighten them.

I might make an appt to have my stylist do a re-tightening when my car doesn't need new tires.

She offers wine. Sometimes it's nice to have someone else's hands in your head and some wine in your hand. If I can get DH to learn how to re-tighten I can get my hair done and have a beer. Mmmm.....Sam Adams Cherry Wheat FTW.

So I dyed my hair purple Friday. (Well bleached and toned and dyed.)

It's not as even as it could be because my DH refused to help. (Purple's not a color found in natural....well yeah grape but you're not a damn grape you're a human being, my wife isn't supposed to have purple hair...wah wah wah.)

I lost some of them but it's not like two strand twisting isn't easy for me so no issue. All in all it was cool to see how much budding I had at the ends.

So it's been a MINUTE. Let's go over the past month:

Closing on our house has been pushed back multiple times due to them wanting a document that does not exist. But we've finally gotten to a point where they're willing to work with us on that document and so we should be closing on the 21st. We've been renting this apt month to month since our lease was over forever ago and it's been really hard financially. To be honest, this experience was bad and I'm not excited about it anymore. It was a lot more involved than I thought it would be and it really opened my eyes to the fact a lot of our firsts won't be as I originally expected because he's done a lot of living.

My locs are still purple. My joints have been bothering me so I found a loctician and....I'm happy but I'm not. I liked her technique and her pricing and the fact I know she's experienced with color. I didn't like some of her care instructions or parts of her attitude. So...I dunno. I have to think on whether or not she's the one.

Uhm....that's about it. This moving thing has absorbed my life.

I'm back for good this time becaaaaaaaaaaaaaaause.....


WE CLOSED ON THE HOUSE SEPTEMBER 29TH!!!

We just got the internet hooked up today so now I'm settled and among the living. My hair needs some serious work. I can't find my clips And the color is a lot more upkeep than I thought. I might be dying it some kind of brown to blend in with my natural color so I don't have to dye so often. (The purple fades quickly.)

It's been an interesting experience Crissy. A lot has happened since I started them.


I tried the no clips method. Nah homie. Some of them came out the way I wanted and others just sat there and laughed at me. It might be a technique that I could master in time but for now I'll go back to clips. Also no more J Crew Pomade. I have to find my gotdern Burnt Sugar Pomade. I hate moving. I should have skipped the hospital and helped my husband pack up our crap. Over 20 damn boxes with nothing written on them to know what's in them. Ugh!

I owe yall pics. They're various shots from the past FOUR months of being loc'd and then after I shower and get ready for the day (Hubs is home and we are sitting on the couch in pjs being bums) I shall take 4 month pics.

As you can see the color fades ugly. I'm having to dye it like every 1 1/2 weeks and it's just annoying.
