I have just been in and out as of late trying to focus on other things. I'm still taking care of my hair and it is loving me for it. I did another brahmi treatment yesterday with great end results. I added what was left of my Aussie Moist to the mix, in addition to castor oil, some flaxseed oil that I infused with some herbs, Vatika oil, and a little water. I rinsed it with HE LTR and these two are seeming to be a winning combination. On my last brahmi treatment I used Neutrogenas Daily Deep Conditioner for a cowash afterwards and while the end results were nice it wasn't the same as when I used the LTR. I rinsed out my deep conditioning mix this afternoon and now have nice soft tresses. I love this stuff. The growth around my edges is lovely. AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A... - Page 17 Icon_biggrin I'm a happy woman.

I'm trying a new experiment. I infused flaxseed oil with horsetail, lemon balm, and chamomile herbs for a week. I have read about the benefits of ingesting flaxseed oil for hair growth amongst other things. Since I am breastfeeding I thought I'd go for the topical way of trying it. I massaged a little bit of this into my scalp yesterday in addition to applying some to my ends. I'll keep you curlies posted on whether I notice any benefits in a few weeks.

In other news, my hair is growing rather well. To be approaching my one year naturalversary next month, I'm quite pleased with my growth despite the ridiculous shedding I went through. Stretched my hair is now reaching the base of my neck. I'll take pictures after my next wash. Smile

Its always nice to see old friends. The weather was nice and I took advantage of it. Very nice day indeed. I re-did the Corinne Bailey Rae inspired look and got some compliments on it. I took pictures but I swear the camera still doesn't do it justice so just take my word for it. lol The front is still not as defined as I'd like but because of the shedding its thinner than the rest so...in due time.

Aw your birthday sounds like it was wonderful! Sounds like something my husband would do...or used to do...LOL

My hubby has also said I should either start my own website or write a book on all this hair stuff that I keep learning about! It's funny because he complains sometimes about how much time I spend looking on the internet at hair stuff but on the other hand he thinks I should go further with it! LOL

The pics are too cute! They came out very nice! And your hair looked great too!

No big hair news here. Still giving my tresses TLC. I did an ACV rinse today and OMG it felt good to have that cold water running over my scalp. Hubby gave me a wonderful scalp massage the other night and I think the oil we used didn't agree with my scalp. I haven't used this oil on my scalp before so now I know it doesn't agree with me. Thanks so much ladies lol

I'm glad you all have so much faith in me! It didn't work out and I think I know why. My twists are going to have to be done on nearly dry hair. As I was twisting the back and my hair was wet the twists weren't coming out so great. They were unraveling and just didn't look good to me. But as I was moving up my head the hair had begun to dry. I added a little castor oil and a little whipped shea butter and the twists were looking so much better!! UNFORTUNATELY, I didn't finish them and ended up taking them out after doing two rows. I had to run out and run an errand and I knew that I wouldn't feel like starting back up when I got back in so I just took them out. Sad I WILL be giving them another go sometime this week. I'm going to do a henna treatment tomorrow so keep your faith in me. I will conquer the TWO STRAND TWISTS!! lol

Post by AfrikanLatina 27th January 2010, 8:24 pm

I just washed out my henna that I put in this morning using some leftover henna that I thawed in the fridge. I'm now sitting with my hair wrapped in a tshirt debating whether to do a brahmi treatment now. My hair is feeling very soft right now so I'm thinking it may not be necessary. After rinsing my hair in the bathtub I cowashed/rinsed some more with V05 conditioner until the water was clear. Now...brahmi treatment or no brahmi treatment. That is the question.

Oh, and my edges are making some nice progress. I've been slack on updating my fotki but I'll do that sometime this weekend probably.

Henna, to henna or not to henna? that is the question, I am a little intimidated too...the only think I do not want from the henna is color (and/or) loosening of curl pattern..(but i heard this is only temp).

I have some cassia on the way, so whenever I get it, I will let yall know how it is! AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A... - Page 17 Icon_biggrin

AfrikanLatina~

Jumped in here and still reading your postings. Your son is too cute....I remember that stage. Hold him and enjoy this time because it will go fast. Then you will have the other stages to enjoy.

Glad to read that your edges are growing back. After I had both of my sons I lost hair...mostly all over so it didn't look real bad and it grew back fast.

I really like the things you are doing with your hair, and I'm challenged by the twist as well...but I will not give up. I think it is the products I'm using...so as I continue to read as many positing as I can I'm looking for what I should try next with my twists.

Sounds like you have a good mixture with the oil and shea butter, but I've been told to use something with a little hold to it. I only have about 3 to 3 1/2 inches of hair all over, so its a work in progress.

Good luck, and look forward to seeing the results of your twists.
