rayray19 wrote:Hey I'm a new at transition and right now have Senegalese twist in as a protective style but I
Shampoo: Kinky Curly Shampoo (sold at Whole Food)
Conditioner: HE Hello Hydration
Leave In Conditioner: Kinky Curly Knot Today
Seal: Coconut oil, olive oil, Shea butter
Moisturizer: Kinky Curly Curling Custard (this is really expensive!!!!)
While my hair has been braided I created a spray bottle mixture which has: HEHH, Coconut oil, EVOO, and water. I spray this on my scalp and braids almost 3 time a day and have no problem with itching or dry scalp.
How long have you been transitioning? How much new growth do you have?
Re: What's your regimen?
I've been transitioning for about 3 months and have a good lil bit of new growth about 2 1/2 inches maybe im not sure..my hair is growing faster since i started transitioning and im loving this natural journey

Re: What's your regimen?
I'm almost at the 3 month mark. Its hard to tell how much new growth I have though because it's different lengths in different areas. Its also very coarse and tight so it could be longer than what it looks like.
Re: What's your regimen?
mines is real coarse as well and tight..i see your from Hartsville i got family up there I go to Francis Marion Univ

@rayray19: they look really nice. I wonder if I can get them done somewhere. I was really referring to your product choices when I said brands tho. But I just might have to get me some of those braids too.

I'm originally from Sumter. I go to Coker College in Hartsville though. I don't know a lot of people in Hartsville though because I don't leave campus that much while I'm at school. Hartsville is boring as heck! When I was choosing colleges, Francis Marion was my first choice until I changed my major to social work.
Re: What's your regimen?
yea it is very small and boring but hey Florence is right down the street and although Florence isn't as big as Charleston (where I'm from) its growing

Re: What's your regimen?
I've never been to Charleston but I do go to Florence about once a week when I'm at school. There is no mall in Hartsville and Magnolia Mall is better than the mall in Sumter. I like the Swamp Fox movies too but their prices are crazy!

Re: What's your regimen?
It was liberating! lol And I say that with no exaggeration. I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off of me. But I did my BC for more than just hair reasons. Check out my Curl St. Journal and you'll see what I mean.
Re: What's your regimen?
gawd i want to cut my hair now!! everybody is BC-ing and i have no hair to BC cuz i'm already natural but i'm pretty sure i want to cut my hair shorter into a cute style or something!

Re: What's your regimen?
I shampoo and DC once a week, sometimes with hair mayonnaise and sometimes just a moisture treatment.
And I moisturize my hair daily with carrot oil or olive oil.
My products are still very unstable. I mostly use ORS but also other stuff lying in our bathroom..
I've achieved a bit growth in the last 4 months and I intend to continue like this until the end of the year and then maybe change my regimen.

Re: What's your regimen?
I don't have a set one, I used to but this works much better for me:
Wash with shampoo when I feel my hair needs it.
Cowash when i feel my hair needs it.
Spray hair daily and baggy daily - Water and oil
Shampoo: African Black soap
Conditioner: Any cheap one
Oil mix : Africa's best herbal oil mix
My 4a/b hair is always moisturized.
Note: This is only for summer, my hair needs different things during the really cold winters up here.

Re: What's your regimen?
I recently changed my routine, and I'm liking it better than my old one.
I wash my hair every week, every other week is a shampoo, the off week a co-wash. I shampoo with Giovanni Smooth As Silk, then use Yes to Cucumbers conditioner, which is also what I co-wash with. If I'm shampooing then I deep condition with Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Deep Treatment. I then get out of the shower, and use Herbal Essences Hydralicious as a detangler/leave-in. After I detangle each section I put on shea butter, then braid. I let the braids sit for a few hours to stretch it a bit, before taking them out and putting my hair in a bun (hurray for eco-styler gel) or if I feel like it I twist my hair. Whatever I do stays in my hair for a week, until I wash it again.
To retain moisture throughout the week, I'll spritz my hair and add a little of my moisturizer (which is really a diluted conditioner) then shea butter, and put gel over it before re-bunning. If my hair is in twists, I do this minus the gel and bunning.

My Reggie
Natural 3c/ 4a/4b
Products:
- Giovanni Smooth as Silk Shampoo(sulfate free)
- Giovanni Smooth as Silk Conditioner
-Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner
- Kimmaytube leave-in (sometimes I swap kckt(ph 7) for Giovanni smooth as silk conditioner (ph 6) *keep in mind that ph is logarithmic
-Spray bottle with a aloe vera and water mix
-wide tooth comb
- ouchless hair bands
- ouchless hair elastics
- bobby pins
-silk bonnet/ silk scarf
-mutivitamin
- trimming scissors
Weekly: I shampoo and condition once a week.
1. I apply Aubrey organics hsr to dry hair the night before and split into 10 twists. about 5 on each side. I sleep with a plastic cap.
2. I untwist a twist and work ot the shed hairs under the shower.
3. Then I apply shampoo to the section, rinse out and immediately apply condItioner and detangle with a wide tooth comb. Then I retwist the hair with conditioner and move on to the next section.
4. Once I've shampooed and conditioned each twist I run water over the twists to rinse out the conditioner.
5. I pat my hair dry with a t-shirt. Then I untwist a twist, seperate in two, apply kimmaytube leave in mix, and braid.
6. I repeat with each twist. If I ever run into any knots I take time to detangle them and snip any that don't detangle.I get two braids from each twist. *I braid to stretch my hair out.
7. I let my hair dry overnight in braids then I style my hair.
Daily:
1. I keep my hair in protective styles such as buns and tucked twists. I usually leave in the same style all week.
2. I spritz my hair with aloe vera/water mix and apply leave-in
3. I cover my my hair with a satin bonnet or a scarf when I'm home. At night I split my hair into to ponytails and cover with a bonnet.
4. To smooth my edges I use kinky curly curling custard or shea butter. I smooth with my hands and apply a scarf to lay it down.
5. Take a multivitamin, drink plenty of water, eat fruits, veggies and lean proteins.
Monthly or Annually:
- About every two months I deep condition after instead of before washing my hair. I use Giovanni smooth as silk mixed with an egg. Then I steam treat with plastic cap and heated towels.
- I flat iron my hair once or twice a year with a sedu revolution and chi silk infusion and redken heat glide. This is the only time I use a brush.
Things I try to avoid:
-grease
- hair tools with metals
- Bobby pins without tips
- sulfate shampoos
- rubber bands
- too much manipulation. I used to have serious hand in hair disease!
- complete trims. I prefer search and destroy trimming.
- I used to cowash with silicone- free conditioners but I stopped because it didn't clean to my satisfaction and the buildup caused a decrease in moisture.
Hope this helps
