Lucy's New Updo!!

Long time, no see ladies! Here's a quick update for you guys....



My lil sis put some kinky twists in my head. She did a good job being that it was her second time doing kinky twists so now I'm like the billboard sign for her services, lol. I'll probably wear them until December. Til then.....Lucy will be MIA. Here's the last known pic of her.

I know it's late, but I'm so nervous about tomorrow (well...today actually). Remember how I was gonna wear my hair in twists until December....well that ended when I wash and deep conditioned my hair....only to have several twists to slip off and my real hair was peeking through the twists. So I decided to take them out and wear my hair out for a while even while working on a construction site (click here: http://www.curlynikki.forumotion.com/general-f3/hard-hat-naturals-t7258.htm). Well, guess what? That idea is thrown out the window. Why? Two words: keratin treatment. Not the infamous Brazilian keratin treatment that has been in the news lately, but Global Keratin treatment. How did this happen? Well, it started when my little sister washed her hair....you see my mother used the Global Keratin on her hair about a month ago. When my sister came in from washing her hair, her natural 3c/4a curls were popping all shiny (this was the 1st time I have ever seen her natural curls so this was a treat) so you can imagine my mom and I ooooing and aaahhhing over her hair, but of course, my sister eventually straighten her hair leaving me alone with my mom.

Mom: See, that's why I want to use that treatment on my hair.

Me: I don't think my hair is long enough...

Mom: (Grabs some of my hair and stretches it) It is long enough! You could have a cute lil bob!

Me: (Rolls my eyes because this is the umpteenth time of Mom asking me about this and I'm tired...yet curious.) OK, when you want to do it?

Mom: (Smiles) Tomorrow.

Now, why I agreed to this....I have no idea, but now I have second thoughts. A lot of what ifs are occurring like what if my hair isn't long enough and I come out looking like a jacked up oompa loompa? What if I get heat damage? What if I get the dreaded TRIM? What if.....my hair stay straight? *faints* iCan't!!

I am so nervous, curious, and afraid.....I can't explain. I really hope Lucy can come back from this....Long Live Lucy!

You can always change your mind!!! C-Cube did a Keratin Treatment and her hair reverted back to its curly texture. Check out her thread.....

My face says it all....shocked mixed with blah. I got a trim which was not so bad since I only had half an inch of split ends....but my hair is so.... There is just nothing going on with this style....I'm so tempted to add water to it, but I have to wait 48 hours to wash it.....

It's ok. I just want my curls back....maybe I can do a dry twist out....

WOW you did it...LOL you face says it all. It's cute!! Well at least you will have your curls back by Saturday.

Hello Jome and welcome...You must have it very hard with mom being a hair stylist. However I would encourage you to check out this forum more extensively and like the ladies mentioned research natural hair. Find the love and beauty of naturalness without straightening, and flat irons and length. Then you will be more encouraged to discuss with mom the fine points of being naturally you. You would be more resolved to doing this with or without mom..Blessings and stay encouraged. Your hair is gorgeous.

Hey everyone! Here's a quick update for yall. Remember the keratin incident? Well, this was my hair after washing the treatment out and after twisting it out.







Don't let my smile fool ya...although my hair reverted back, there were still some parts of my hair that were still straight. Yet, as time went by (and after cowashing) my hair reverted completely back to its natural curly state. The treatment left my hair really silky and now my curls are more defined than ever. Would I try it again? Ummm....maybe? Probably once my hair grow longer, but I could see myself using it if I wanted to straighten my hair, but just to make my hair more "manageable"? No.

Anyway, I just realized it's been 6 months since the BC so let's take a trip down memory lane, should we?

Hey everyone! I know I have been MIA for awhile but I'm back for a quick update. I put Lucy in some braids for now because it's been extremely cold down here in the South and I did not want my hair drying out in the cold. So Lucy's gonna hibernating til late February/early March. This is my hair now.



I missed my hair already. Hopefully, I'll be able to henna my hair after I take the braids out...I've been wanting some color in my hair so bad!! Anyways, until next time....

Hey, you guys...I know I've been in and out, but I have good reasons (I'm working more...I have school...and other business ). Good news tho....Lucy's back and she has grown so I did a length check. The last one I did was around August so here we go...





My bangs are almost at the tip of my nose!



Almost at the end of my neck.



Almost to my jawbone!

I think the length of my hair is around 4 inches so it's right on track. So that's all....I gotta go and study Human A&P2

No, my hair is not relaxed...just a rollerset thanks to mother dear. I liked it, but it's already starting to frizz a lil thanks to the humidity down here. Oh well, hopefully it'll last a couple of days...if random people quit touching it.

After watching this tutorial on CurlyNikki: http://www.curlynikki.com/2011/03/flat-twist-updo-on-twa-natural-hair.html, I did this hairstyle on Lucy. The results...?







After 2 1/2 hours, I came up with this....nice, huh? I'm currently on 3 day hair and hope to go at least a week. Yet, you know what would take this style up a notch? COLOR!! I'm dying for some color...I need some now!!!

That is sooooo cute!!!!!!! I am no longer patient enough to do anything that intricate... but it's sooo chic!!!!
