The average person grows about half an inch a month(this is what the experts say, there are always there unique individuals that grow less or more. God made us all different) So, given that you should have about 4.5 inches of new growth.HTH

I'm 9 mths post relaxer today... I'm so excited. I mini-chopped yesterday, I found some adorable curls. I don'n think I'll be able to wait much longer for my BC. I wanted to wait until April, because I'm going south. But I want to cut next month instead. Wish me luck.

Re: 9 Months Post Relaxer
I am 9 mos and a week today, i think. I can't tell you how many times I have stood in front of the mirror, hair shears in hand, just staring at my hair. I want to BC so bad, but I keep backing down. I keep telling myself that I don't have that much longer to go before I reach my I year mark. My BC day is very special to me. And because of that I want to hold out. But every time I wash my hair I spend about 20 mins staring in the mirror ready to chop. Maybe I should just rock braids until my BC day comes. Anyone else get that itch to BC? Did you hold out, or did you snip?

Re: 9 Months Post Relaxer
January 23, 2011 marks 9 months off of the creamy crack - LOL! I never thought that I would make it this far. Although it is not easy, I do not believe that I will ever return to the perm.
I originally planned the BC for my 1 year anniversary (April 23rd), but I am experiencing extreme indecisiveness....some days I do not believe I have enough new growth to cut the remaining perm out and others, I am ready to get it over...see what my totally natural hair will bring. I really do not know what to do....HELP!

@Tranquility
I totally understand!!! My BC date is in mid April too. Although the time really has flown by, I'm dying to get it over with. But the second I stand in front of the mirror it becomes a stand off between me and my "better" judgement.

Re: 9 Months Post Relaxer
Hi DannyCurl,
Have you made any decisions regarding your BC? Truthfully speaking, I don't know if I will ever be ready to do it...which is why I should just do it! The problem is whenever I decide to take a leap of "faith," it doesn't necessarily turn out as expected....and not in a good way! LOL!
Lately, I have been doing 2 strand twists and rolling them... This style is helping me to feel somewhat comfortable with the limbo stage!

9 months! Yay! :)
I am currently nine months going on 10 months in march. My last relaxer was in may 16, 2010. So far I have had 3 inches a growth since I measured it earlier this month. I am so excited about my translation. I have been feeling braidouts lately. Earlier in my transition I was doing roller sets, flexirods, Bantu knots and occasional straightening. But my I just do braid and twistouts and flat twist protective styles. I try to wash and condition every week and just started learning to deep condition about a month ago. I have also created a spray on leave in condition which consists of raw shea butter oil, vitamin e oil, albertos vow strawberries and cream moisture milks conditioner and some water in a spray bottle, which my hair loves. my current profile pic is my hair In a braidout w/ small rollers on the ends. That's how that look was achieved. Will post my current pic for my 10 mo anniversary soon. Happy growing

Re: 9 Months Post Relaxer
Greetings All, I'm also into my 9th month of transition and luv'n my kink's, coils, curls, & waves.. I want to thank all you ladies for your support & your much needed tips. I don't have a planed date for my BC; but I'll know when the time is rite. I've worn my hair in an A-line Bob for years now which makes cutting weekly just a normal thing. I only have relaxed ends on about 1/4 of the top half of my head now. I'm just not ready for a TWA. I can't help but get excited about the day I'll be all natural. Thanks again for the encouragement

Re: 9 Months Post Relaxer
Hello to all my Curly Natural Beauties!! I'm new, brand spanking new to the site. ( just 5 minutes)LOL. It's been 9 months since my last relaxer and for the first time my hair is being to break at the line of demarkation. The only thing new tha I am doing is Henna. I did my first Henna in Feb'11 then another just yesterday. In that month, my hair has shed a great deal. So much so tha I am about to just go ahead and do the BC. Yet that was not the plan from the beginning. Can someone give me some advice on what I could be doing wrong or what I should try before I take that plunge and BC? Thanks in advance.
Miracles & Blessings!
