Help guys
My daughter is 14 years old natural and gets teased at school currently b/c she is the sole one in school with natural hair. (Filing charges against the girls that are teasing her but that's another story:x)her current style is braids in the front and back to produce a afro at the crown she has a little more than a TWA but I need styles that she would like from her age group. Please post pics if you can because explaining to her just won't do. I am natual myself but she do not like my styles because I am "old" please help guys

Re: Help guys
maybe she could just get a full set of box braids w/ extensions? I remember @ that age (and even recently) I was more comfortable with a natural style that "hung".
and they can *last* quite some time....

Re: Help guys
Thanks for responding, We tried box braids and she did not like em the extensions tore her hair to shreds, I dunno if she is just sensitive to that particle hair but I am to scared to try another brand. she likes her afro puff so a style that involves that would be ideal. Thanks for your suggestioncassadie3 wrote:maybe she could just get a full set of box braids w/ extensions? Re: Help guys
You could try straightening it every once in a while with a hot comb or flat iron but BE CAREFUL OF HEAT DAMAGE! Always, always, always use a heat protectant.
You could also try cornrowing the front or side of the hair and putting the remaining hair in small twists.
Twist extensions with the kinky hair extensions could work instead of braid extensions. Braids do a number on my hair as well, but I find the kinky twist extensions are alot better and I notice less breakage when i wear them.
Buns are also a good alternative.
You could also try twist outs or braid outs and just add a headband.
Hope this helps! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I dont have pics of myself wearing this style, but it was my staple style back when i transitioned. I loved the fact that it was low maintenance and my hair still looked great! And its versatile!
Here are some pics I found via google (I posted quite a few to inspire lots of ideas! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ):
