RoseBud's Curl Street Journal Empty RoseBud's Curl Street Journal

Post by CrissyQ 16th March 2010, 7:36 pm

hello all. this is my story. I am a 34 year old trying to decide on what to do with her hair. i have had a perm since i was in the 7th grade. before that it was press and curls and french braids. i have always had shoulder length hair. When i turned 34, i decided i needed a change. i stop perming my hair august of 09, and went natural.

I stayed that way for 5 months. I gave in, and permed my hair January of 10. After I got my perm, I was so mad because I missed my natural state of hair. I decided this is it, no more. so here I am today 8 weeks and no perm RoseBud's Curl Street Journal Icon_cheers

I am so sorry that happened to you. Just know the good thing about hair is it grows back. I know that it may seem hard to see now but, I really hope it can work out for you in the long run. Hearts and hugs to you babe..

First, welcome.

Second, I'm sorry this happened to you. Is that you in the pic above - is that what the barber did - shaved your hair completely off in the back? RoseBud's Curl Street Journal Icon_eek I would have cursed him a new one ...
h*ll to the no (as Whitney Houston would say)

Third, you will recover - it will grow back fast.

Stick around you will learn alot from Ladies on this forum.

Welcome!

And congrats on going natural. Now, the barber, what was he thinking?!?!?! Did you pay him? Sorry for being so nosey,bc he wouldnt have gotten a dime from me.

Okay, so let's try to make some lemonade out of these lemons. First your hair will grow back, secondly, i would go to a beautician instead of a barber, she will not shape you up like that. I suggest letting your hair grow a while, or, cutting all of it down, so it can even out, when it starts to grow.

You know cut it, so it can be even with the rest of your hair. Trust me, in two weeks it will began to grow in.

Now, if you want to keep it like that, I would try to style the top...like take a shower cowash, shampoo, whatever you like to do... on wet hair, apply some conditioner, leave it in, use a good amount then apply gel over it.

Let it air dry, you can have a nice short cut...i think it will look pretty. I hope this helps a little.

But do what you feel is right, i would personally do another BC..just to have all my hair even.

Good luck hun and welcome again!

edited: Please dont cry... RoseBud's Curl Street Journal Icon_cry So are you transitioning or completely natural, if you are transitioning, I would just cut the rest..it will be okay. (((Hugs)))

Stayed at home today and played around with my hair. I washed it with my burts bees. I swear this stuff is so good, it makes my hair soooo soft. I then used my Wen product, i am not sure what that did but the smell is nice. RoseBud's Curl Street Journal Icon_biggrin I let it dry and then I made a concoction of shea butter, extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil.I used it before when i was natural and my hair loved it.

Now I am off to the mall to enjoy this 60 degree weather in chicago. TTYL

Hey Yvette, it is me Jackie. I use conditioners as my moisturizer also. When I was in need of extreme moisture I used Cantu Sheabutter Leave-in. It has cones so you will have to clarify with shampoo every now and then. But now that my moisture is under control (I think) I've been using SheaMoisture Sheabutter Leave-in. And with both of these I seal with oils before styling or applying any kind of styling product.

RoseBud wrote:ok, lol what is cones?

Cones are silicone ingredients found in hair products added to give shine, but can only be removed by using a sulfate shampoo. Sulfate shampoos are very drying to curly hair, so most naturals avoid cones. However, lots of naturals also have cone products that they like and use. So, it's just a matter of what works for that individual persons hair.
