PaganWifey Empty PaganWifey

Post by PaganWifey 1st February 2010, 5:04 am

Ok so I've been natural since Nov 2007. Over TWO years now. I've had braids in and upon occasion I will straighten it.

I really enjoy color though. Right now I'm recovering from hair color that I got back in August. It was a vibrant dark red with purple undertones. It has faded something fierce. And I'm at a bit of a crossroads. I'm not feeling the texture or the moisture content but the color is not pleasant to look at. I'm contemplating putting a weave in because I need to test drive the process for my wedding renewal in August anyway. And it'll feed my need for color while I baby my hair and figure out what to do with it. (It's a tad too long for decent looking wash and gos and I need to up my styling game.)

So. That's it for today.

Did some twists today on damp hair.

Shampooed with Nature's Gate Organics blahblahblah (I'll fill it in later tonight)
Conditioned with HE Hello Hydration
Used Palmer's Coconut Hair Milk as a leave in (I'm gonna miss this stuff when I finish my supply)

Section, put a dab of Oyin Handmade's Burnt Sugar Pomade and twist.

I like twisting with the pomade. It leaves them soft and my scalp isn't super dried out. Note though watch where you store that stuff. It can separate and get a little gritty.

I'm glad I twisted it yesterday because today I'm too ticked off and tired to be bothered. I need to get a hold of my camera so I can snap a pic and show yall this color. It's faded and trashy lookin'. Sad

Alright so...pictures. I'll uploading them now. I'm back and forth about coloring it. DH says it's not THAT bad but I just feel like the faded color washes me out.

I should have said that I did those twists on Monday. And today is Wednesday. So two/three days depending on how you count. I'll upload some wedding pics so you can see what the red is SUPPOSED to look like and then maybe my upset will be a little more evident.

You've let your color grow out a lot. So what is your plan? To go to your natural color? or color again?

Maybe it's the way the light is hitting your hair or the flash - but it looks orangey. Has it faded that much. What type of color did you use? What are you plans now, more color or will you let it grow out?

I think it will look good under the henna color.

I grew out this much because I've had braids since November. I think the last time I got it done was August the day before my wedding.

It does look kinda orangey in real life. But I took a pic with out flash in natural light to help.

I'm nervous about coloring it again because it's a little dry right now but I'm interviewing and this is not classy.

I'm thinking of a weave for my renewal so I want to do a dry run but at this time it's not fiscally achievable so I'm thinking I need to just buy some color and dye it to make it one color. I don't want to go back to red, I'm ready for black or brown.

You can kinda see how it's a deep red here but I can find a better pic later.

totally agree. The henna with give it the red color and it won't be as drying as typical dyes... AND it's natural! Wink

Well your color now looks NOTHING like your wedding photo. The color in your wedding pic looks great on you. It's color but subtle.

I think for interview purposes if HENNA doesn't work you should dye it back all one color (black/brown).

I am so shocked it went from deep red to ORANGE. That is strange! GOOD LUCK!

Henna? What henna? I know nothing about henna. If I color I was gonna get either a box or some color and developer from Sallys. Educate me?

I don't feel as confident as I could because I feel like I look like a mess from the neck up.

Here's better wedding pics.

It's common. A lot of my white friends have gone red from brown, black, or blond and it goes anywhere from strawberry blond to orange to like a tawny color. Red generally goes to the blond-orange stage. It's a mix of sun lightening and fading.

No twist out. I tried for it and it was just....hair felt too dirty. Washed it, conditioned it and all that jazz. Got caught up with my husband's triflin' tail and forgot to put a leave in in there. Buying a deep conditioner (on HIS dime) and doing a treatment tomorrow.
