Amla Oil Empty Amla Oil

Post by tiashaunteé 22nd January 2010, 2:04 pm

I keep seeing Amla oil mentioned and I honestly never heard of it until the CN forums were birthed. If you use it can you please explain why and how. Any other details are welcome.....bring me up to speed, please.

Amla Oil Empty Re: Amla Oil

Post by Lynnieluve 22nd January 2010, 2:55 pm

I've never used it but this is what I found about it.

BENEFITS & USES OF AMLA OIL
Amla Oil

  • enriches hair growth and pigmentation. It prevents premature graying
of hair, dandruff, increases the strength of hair follicles (and thus
preventing hair-fall). Customarily, a small amount of Amla oil is
applied to the hair after washing. This not only brings forth a rich,
natural shine and soft texture to the hair, but also helps rejuvenate
hairs that are dull and damaged. It also prevents split hair ends.

  • Application of Amla oil over the scalp has a cooling effect. As such, it keeps the
mind cool and promotes sound sleep.

Amla oil along with various other formulations such as drugs like Brahmi,
Shikakai and Reetha are very beneficial for mind, hair and body.

  • Amla oil is useful for increasing memory
AMLA OIL (Fortified with
Brahmi)

Contents:

Amalaki fruit (Emblica
officinalis)

Brahmi leaf (Bacopa monnieri)
Ela seed (Elettaria cardamomum)
Gulab petal (Rosa Centifolia)
Kapoor Kachri rhizome(Hedichium spicatum)
Bhringraj whole plant (Ecliptu alba)
Musta rhizome (Cyperus rotundus)
Natural sesame oil as base

Usage:
1.your hair and apply oil all over the scalp
2. Massage the scalp gently with fingers in a circular motion, so that
the oil gets absorbed into the scalp, gradually
3. Leave for an hour or more before washing with an all-natural shampoo.

Thanks LL, I read about it online also. I was really wondering about real life-real people experiences. It sounds nice and I am always up for trying new oils but I need some reviews before purchasing

Amla Oil Empty Re: Amla Oil

Post by ChrsLvsBks 22nd January 2010, 4:22 pm

I'll say it. My name is ChrsLvsBks, and I am a PJ.

I had both Dabur's amla oils. The first ingredient in one of them was mineral oil. I used it in the summer since I was co-washing everday and cleansing with Dr. Bronner's every week or so. I would use it to pre-poo overnight.

The Dabur Gold amla oil was written in another language so I could not read the ingredients. I gave it up during a recent meet up since I would not use it until the summer.

I plan to make my own oil by slowing steeping the powder in a 1/2 cup of jasmine or sesame oil. I will put the powder in a tea bag and sit it in the oil in a crock pot on very low for four hours. Once I make my own, I will apply it to my scalp.

Chrs you're like our little encyclopedia! I'm glad that you know so much, it helps me a ton.

Thank you!

Tell me how your homemade amla/jasmine oil turns out. I love the smell of jasmine and saw some jasmine oil on the BNB site but since I'm already getting the Vatika I didn't want to overdo it.

I saw the Dabur amla oil at an indian store and quickly bought it. It appears to just have amla oil, almonds, and henna. I was all excited to start mixing until that smell hit my nose! Still haven't used it now 5mos later lol.

Fromnaturewithlove.com has it unscented which I intend on buying.

Well, I'm a pj and since the lady that threads my eyebrows is from India and suggested that I use this I feel obligated to my pjism to get it. She said they have it at the World Store in Cary, NC. She also told me to try the Amla pickles, but I don't think I will go that far.

Chrs,

I believe you are my pj/diy twin. I too steep my powders but I use coconut oil or grapeseed oil because they penetrate better and are light in consistency [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

They have alma oil available that has no mineral oil as an additive. I made sure not to buy the Dabur version of alma oil. Haven't tried it yet but am excited to see what this oil will do to my hair.
