Moisturizer & Leave-in Conditioner
Hello All -
I'm in the process of transitioning from a texturizer and my hair is extremely dry. As I type, I am deep conditioning with AOHSRC for the first time and I'm hoping it moisturizes my hair.
I've been reading that people use moisturizers. I would like to know when you use a moisturizer and if you have one that you recommend.
Lastly, I think I need a heavy leave-in conditioner (if there is such a thing). Currently, I have Giovanni Direct Leave-in and my hair soaks it up like a sponge. Would someone please recommend a good heavy leave-in conditioner or recipe?
Here's my routine:
Co-wash
Condition then rinse out
Leave-in conditioner
Seal

Re: Moisturizer & Leave-in Conditioner
My hair is super dry also. I have a few moisturizers that I use to keep my dryness under control. I use my honey child's honey hair creme (I use it as a moisturizer and a sealant sometimes), komaza care's califia moisturizing creme (super thick), and recently I added afroveda's shea amla butter (my hair loves this and stays moisturized for days!). As far as a heavy leave-in, I used komaza care shea butter hair lotion. I like using a heavy leave-in like this one during the times I blow dry on low heat. I don't know if my list will help, but it definitely has worked for my dry strands. All of these product I ordered from the company's website. I hope u find ur dream moisturizer!

Divinebeauty87 - This is extremely helpful. I'm going to the website today and see they have samples of the products you mentioned.
I'll let you know if any of them work for my dry hair.

Re: Moisturizer & Leave-in Conditioner
I know its been said on my threads, but I LOVE Qhemet products for my dry hair.
These two are my favorite:
Amla and Olive Heavy Cream
Castor and Moringa Softening Serum
Both leave my hair soft and with a nice sheen. The serum has a wonderful citrus smell. You can read the reviews on their website.

My moisturizer is AOHSR. When washing my hair it does great, but also when I don't wash, I use it as a moisturizer, and I cannot find anything better. And trust me when I say..........my hair use to be EXTREMELY dry.

Re: Moisturizer & Leave-in Conditioner
Hi MissFierce21 - Thank you.
I just purchased AOHSRC last night and did a deep condition with a heat cap. My hair is noticably softer, but still dry. I'm going to try it for a week or so to see if works. I'll keep you posted.

Re: Moisturizer & Leave-in Conditioner
@TMS you're welcome. I'm almost positive it will work. 1st I apply a leave in, weather wet or dry, then I apply a sealant (coconut oil or evoo), and lastly I apply the AOHSR as a moisturizer. Hope this helps.

I've used Giovanni Leave In also but had to slack up. I believe the little amount of protein in it was the cause of my dry hair. I use AOHSR also. I think I'm gonna try your method also, Missfierce21, and use AO as an added moisturizer. Thanks!
Re: Moisturizer & Leave-in Conditioner
@naturallydestined - you could be onto something with the Giovanni Leave-in. I've since put it to the side and have been using the AO with great results.
@MissFierce21 - thanks for the suggestion - it's working!

@Divinebeauty87 - I picked up a few samples of Komaza Hair Care. The customer service is superb.
I plan to began using the products next month and will post an update on how I like the products.

OMG! I thought it was just me. The Giovanni Direct leave-in is great, but I had super hard/dry hair. I stopped using it and now my hair is soft again. I don't use any proteins at all.

Re: Moisturizer & Leave-in Conditioner
I see that most of you use a moisturizer that you must order online. Are there any you can buy at local stores?
