ACV Rinse, need help on using Empty ACV Rinse, need help on using

Post by LilyFlower8604 11th January 2010, 3:58 pm

I want to start using apple cider vinegar rinse on my hair, but have a couple of questions.

1. If I try to shampoo wash my hair once every 7-10 days and co-wash my hair every 4-5 days should I use the ACV rinse after shampooing, co-washing or both? I heard because of the acidity ACV rinses can be damaging.

2. How do you dilute the stuff? I bought a (ridiculously priced, it was $6, so maybe not) organic ACV that had 5% water in it and then I bought just some plain grocery store $1.26 bottle of ACV that was also diluted with water to 5% acidity.

I use a 2:1 ratio to dilute but you really want to make it your own. Everyone's hair reacts differently and the mix for my hair may be two strong too weak.

So you plan to shampoo and clarify with ACV, are you sure your hair can take that much at one time?

Using the acv and the shampoo sounds very harsh to the hair. But I would use it last (after you condition)

Also I do AVC rinses about once every two weeks and it hasnt been damaging to my hair in terms of drying it out. But everyone's hair is different...

I'm not sure about the ACV rinse and shampooing, that's why I'm asking what's best. If the shampoo and ACV is too much, should I just do ACV and co-wash??

And excuse my ignorance, but 2:1 ratio, that means two cups of water for every cup of ACV right???

I think maybe you want to do AVC rinse and co-wash, that makes more sense to me. Also in terms of measure, I do one tablespoon per cup of warm water. And since I have a ton of hair, I usually do a rinse with 4-6 cups of water and 4-6 tablespoons and that works very well for me...not to strong in my opinion

Thanks. I'm in desperate need of a shampoo (nearing my 10-day mark) and will hold off on the ACV rinse until I co-wash (hopefully sometime this weekend if I find the time).

Both are techniques to clean and remove buildup from the hair. There are some naturals that do both. I would just approach it with caution unless you already know your hair can handle it. It may work for you.

Sorry about that....I try to sneak in some CN time while at work. For me it's 2tbs of vinegar for every one cup of water. Sometimes I do alter this amount

Ok, I'll try this out. I'm happy I came here first before jumping into the ACV rinse on a whim, lol, that could've been disastrous.
