Best Results for Jamila Henna
Hey Ladies,
I recently have been applying Jamila henna after letting the dye release for 8 hours in a warm place. Then I let is sit in my hair for 8 hours. I found this information by visiting hennasooq.com. I swear that the results are 10 times better. The color is a deep orange/bronze initially then it settles into a beautiful cherry cola color. I've been trying to post pics, but I have not had any luck capturing the color.
Has anyone else had different Jamila Henna results based on recipe changes or dye release times, etc.?

i have never used henna but will this month. What do u mean by letting the dye release in a warm place? Is the dye on your hair already or still in the bowl?

Re: Best Results for Jamila Henna
Hey Miah,
I'm referring to letting the dye release prior to applying it to your head. I usually sit it inside the oven overnight...of course the oven is off, but it's still fairly warm. Prior to using this method, I followed Nikki's recipe for Jamila Henna, which just requires the henna to sit for about 30 minutes prior to applying, but applying it after 8 hours gives a better stain!

I've just left it out. No oven or nothing. Just on the counter.

I totally agree!! I have henna'd before and noticed a huge difference when I left the henna in overnight and also let the henna sit to release the dye for 8 hours or more(overnight usually). I plan on henna'ing tomorrow night and letting it sit in overnight into Saturday since I have absolutely no plans whatsoever!!!

Thanks for the info MelMelBee! I've been doing it the Curly Nikki way for a year now with pretty good results, but I will try it the Hennasooq way next time.
Re: Best Results for Jamila Henna
are you ladies just speaking of a difference in the color deposit, or a difference in the conditioning effects too?
thanks!
thanks!

Re: Best Results for Jamila Henna
I have some henna in my freezer right now. Do you think I would get the same results as letting sit for 8 hours? It's been in the freezer for a week. Has anyone ever used thawed henna?
Re: Best Results for Jamila Henna
I use thawed henna all the time. If you have enough for your entire head, you just need to use it once it is thawed. It's no need to have it sit any longer because it has released it's maximum amount of dye release.
I usually have to mix in new henna to make enough to do my whole head. Therefore, I mix the new batch let that sit out for 8 hours and then add the thawed henna to it. Hope that makes sense...lol

@MelMelBee - Thanks! That does help a lot. Since I only have about 2-3 inches of hair, there's plenty in the frozen batch for my whole head Cool!
