I am so tired of people telling me I am harsh because I have no pity for the FISCALLY IRRESPONSIBLE. You're damn right, I DON'T. DO NOT call my extension crying, cursing, or otherwise acting like an IDIOT because the NON PAYMENT of your student loans has finally caught up to you. If your TAXES have been OFFSET, you WAGES have been GARNISHED, or you are BEING SUED, I CANNOT HELP YOU!! The Government has deemed this action NECESSARY because YOU DID NOT PAY for a MINIMUM of 9 MONTHS STRAIGHT! YES, I have a very cut and dry attitude about this. I don't care how old you were when you took out your student LOANS. You know you have to pay a LOAN back. Saying "No one explained to me how students loans worked" is a cop out and I am tired of hearing it. Maybe if you had read the materials to get the loan before you signed them, you wouldn't be having this problem. Perhaps if you checked your credit, you would have known the loans were delinquent. MAYBE just MAYBE, if you had decided that you weren't above paying your debt, you would have your tax refund. DO NOT EVEN FIX YOUR MOUTH TO ASK ME IF THIS IS LEGAL! YES, YES, AND YES IT IS!! You owe the money and now extreme measures are being taken to COLLECT on a long owed DEBT. Of course they are unwilling to work with you at this point. What do you expect?! You have IGNORED the calls of your lender/guaranty agency, thrown their letters in the TRASH, and DODGED them in every way imaginable. The time for diplomacy has passed. PAY UP, SHUT UP, & GET OFF MY PHONE!!

Breath, hey my student loan company is calling me and I dont know what to tell them but 'Ummm when I get some money you will get some" but if the clothes on my back cant be used towards my loan then I cant help you.

Please do not default on your student loans. It only jacks up your credit and ends up costing you more. Request an economic hardship deferment or a forbearance. If you granted forbearance be aware that they may not completely take away your payment but they can possibly lower it to something more affordable.

@tasteofcaramel - I agree with ambitious_tiff. Try to get a deferment so that you don't jack up your credit. Its not worth it in the long-run. When I was getting my master's degree I got a deferment but still paid on my loans (when I could) and it made a huge difference.

Ive tried to explane to them that I am looking for a job and have little extra money and ther were like ok. At this point there is noting I can do. Ive tried everything. It's not like I want it to be this way it just happend that way

If your student loan payments are more than 20% of your income they can grant you a mandatory forbearance. You have at least 6 years worth of deferment time if you are in hardship. You get 3 if you can't find a job and 3 if you're just in a "hardship status". If all else fails, you can consolidate and your deferment and forbearance time will start over. Just a thought. Trust, there's always a way out.

If you have not already done this, please make sure that you communicate your circumstances in writing and keep copies for your files. I pray that your situation changes soon.

My undergrad degree was a pretty useless & expensive one...I owe more in student loans than most jobs are willing to pay...but guess what, I ain't worried, they'll get it when I get it, lol...I must vent about all of these homemade recipes...why is it necessary for you to have FIVE different oils in one recipe?

I've been deferring my student loan for about 4 years now. I plan to pay it off as soon as I finish nursing school and find a jo *pinky promise*.

I said the same thing. I plan to participate in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program... Hopefully it'll still be around when I graduate, lol.
