My 2nd SUCCESSFUL attempt at curlformers Empty My 2nd SUCCESSFUL attempt at curlformers

Post by CurlyQueso 16th February 2011, 6:30 pm

Ok so the first time I used curlformers, it was a DISASTER! IDK if I didn't allow it to dry properly or if the product i used wasn't heavy enough but it was bad. It came out "ok" but when I went to the club it just puffed up and had no curl definition. But I tried it again and here are my resultshttps://i.servimg.com/u/f78/15/48/86/71/snapsh11.jpg

I am happy with the results however, I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to make it last. I kind of experimented with products b/c I wasn't sure what to use lol. I couldn't find my aloe vera gel so I used HETT, eco-styler, and tropical fruit anti- frizz serum. This caused so many white balls (not the first time); so I am definitely throwing that out. So,I mixed HETT, Jane Carter wrap and roll, and tropical fruit anti- frizz serum on some curls and HETT, garnier fructis curl sculpting cream gel, and tropical fruit anti- frizz serum on others. I've concluded that JC wrap and roll just does not work for me and my hair. It i waaaaaay too light.

Now I just need to figure out how I'm gonna make this last. Any suggestions?

Also, if you've experimented with curlformers before, what products gave you the best results?

your curls look great but i can see how preserving the style my be a bit difficult.

you have just inspired me to try curlformers! my hair has grown significantly and my old styles arent working the same.

have you done it again since last month? have you figured out what products work? do you have any suggestions for a newbie like me?

Very nice! I have the same issue with preserving a curlformer set. I just vented about this in a blog post too lol.

Your hair looks really nice!!!

(completely off subject):
Don't even get me started with the club and natural hair...one time i left my house with a gorgeous set of braids out....after an hour at the club...all the definition was GONE!!!! my hair puffed up. I was so pissed...lawd lawd lawd...
lol

Anyways, i'll wait for more length to try curlformers Smile

Looks great - when you figure out how to make them last - let me know. I have done a successful set as well - but all that time and effort and only 1 maybe 2 days of good looking curls is not enough.

It looks really cute. Have you tried a mix of lotta body, distilled water and just a drop or two of light oil. I had the best results with that mixture on my sets. Make sure the set is completely dry and at night try to lightly pin curl your hair or fabric strips to maintain the set. I used a cheap new t-shirt and tore it in strips.
