Chemical Dye After Henna

I've henna'd a few times but I really want to use chemical dye on my hair (professionally of course). I've heard that the chemical dye won't take well because it cannot penetrate the hair shaft because the henna coats it. Has anyone tried this or know anything about it?

I have henna'd many time and I have used box dye in between. I have never had a problem just make sure to deep condition after box dye and keep moisturized. I have use garnier hair color also revlon. HTH
