Hey Guys!

I am new to the forum and absolutely hooked already! I want to try Henna so I have two questions:

1. How much grams would I need for shoulder length when curlie/bsl when str8 hair?

2. Is the Jamila brand sold in any stores (in NYC in particular) or would I need to order it online?

I'm currently studying in Barbados but will be heading to NYC for vacay in Jan and would love to get some while I'm there.

I bought 500 grams and didn't even use half and my hair is about BSL/MBL when straight.

When I first tried Henna, I mixed 200 grams and realized that I didn't need that much. So now I think Im good with just using 100 grams, so Im thinking you may need 100-150 grams and that should be enough.

thats what I do, I purposelly buy more henna than I need and store it in the freezer,

I used about 400 grams and it made me a whole tub! My hair is collar bone length stretch and it didn't even make a dent into my mixture when I was done applying it!

New York stores you can go, on the 6 train get off at 28th and lexington and there are about three or four specialty stores that sell henna! All types too, the one I go to Kalyustans has amla, jamila henna, reshna henna and henna you can buy by 700 grams for like 12.00! But the brand isn't specified, it's like black henna, red henna etc. But there prices are really good and it's better than paying shipping to Barbados lol

Looking at your avatar I have a similar length of hair to you and quite thick and I use 150g henna every time. I always have some left over though and I put that into a big ziplock bag and keep adding all my leftovers to the same bag with every treatment until I have enough frozen henna for 1 treatment. I hate to see any go to waste!

lol! lol @ waste. The good thing is that it can be freezed so I will make the 150g and then just freeze whatever is left over.
