Products with Coconut Empty Products with Coconut

Post by djackson 18th January 2011, 1:02 pm

I am having a tough time finding some products the do not have coconut in it. I have heard rave upon rave about the great results that coconut offers for your hair.

Here is my problem, I have purchased merchandise with coconut as an ingredient and have reaped the benefits!!!! Since I have had my son, I can no longer stand to smell it, use it, tolerate it etc. My last purchase was Vatika oil which my hair looooves. I used it every other day or when my hair felt dry. Within that week, I was back to dry heaving and having a sick feelings all over again No .

Don't get me wrong, I have tested using other oils and products w/o coconut and I'm fine. Is there another product that is comparable to coconut oil/ingred. that gives the same result? Perhaps another scent that I can be used in place.

Does anyone have any jewels of advice to offer? confused

have you tried any Qhemet Biologics products? they work fantastic for my hair, keeping it well-moisturized. i use the burdock root buttercream, it's a light cream with a very faint lemon scent ... not strong at all. the website has good info to assist with deciding which product is best for your hair 'type' (i.e. fine, medium, course, etc)

D, I most def endorse what mizcreative said about Qhemet. That is the first line that came to my mind. Another line, you might try is the Shea Moisture line (http://www.sheamoisture.com/hair)--also oil/butter based. Jane Carter's line (http://www.janecartersolution.com/ingredients.html) is not coconut oil based and neither is the Kinky Curly line. All these lines are excellent, but, of course, its a matter of what works for YOUR hair, and only trial and error will reveal that. KC is not an oil based line (http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Knot-Today-p-207.html, http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html. Bueno suerte!

Hey D. I also wanted to share with you of a product I have received .....[ginger] Shea Butter Whip from www.ilovemyfro.com. If your hair I love you shea butter, I highly recommend that you give this product a try. The consistency is creamy, yet very light and goes on smooth. Unlike other products I've tried that contain shea butter which left my hair feeling a little brittle and dry-looking, this whip leaves my hair very shiny and moisturized (I have fine strands w/medium-thick density). This whip is great on the skin too. The winter weather leaves my skin feeling very dry and itchy. Upon applying the whip, my skin soaked it right up and was very soft. Hope you ladies give it a try.

have you considered adding an essential oil to coconut based products to mask the smell? Peppermint and Lavender are pretty strong

Sorry for the delay, computer problems, Anyway...thanks for the feedback I will definitely try both of your suggestions. The ginger shea butter sounds great and I love lemony scents as well as lavender.

Thanks Ladies!!

Here's a blog that I read - www.theaccidentalnatural.wordpress.com

She is allergic to coconut so all of the products she uses and reviews are free from it.
