Thinice: Starts her CSJ
Hi! I have been reading others CSJ’s and decided to start my own. I am concerned about becoming lazy due to being super tired. I do not want to lose the progress I have made.I hope by keeping the CSJ, my laziness/tiredness will be curbed. Thank you for reading!
Why I decided to go natural? There were several reasons:
Hair Stats: I started transitioning August 2009. I did a mini BC March 2010. My hair is super thick with no curl definition at all. It is like a cotton ball. Disclaimer*** I have curls, they are just super tiny, come close and see. If you stood a foot away from me, you would only see the cotton ball. I usually wear twists to avoid getting knots—single strand and multiple strands. My hair shrinkage is around 75%, so what is normally stretchable to almost my collar bone is shrinks somewhere below my eyebrows
Side note: I did not want to big chop. Ten years ago in college, on a whim I had my boy shave off all my hair. I rocked that look for about a year and let it grow out. I did not know how to take care of my hair and did not want a press, so I went back to relaxers. The low cut was not cute on me, hence why I avoided the BC this time around.
This week I washed on Sunday. Prepoo--Not this week. Shampoo with Curls Clarifying Shampoo. I purchased this on Black Friday and was dying to try it. Deep Conditioned--Not this week. Conditioned with Herbal Essence Totally Twisted. Applied Kimmaytube leave in put my hair in twists using Darcy's Avocado and Honey Twisting Cream and sealed with shea.
**didnt get to twisting the nape of my head until today. I co-wash the nape with the suave green apple, applied kimmay tube leave in, and twisted with Avocado and Honey Twisting Cream and sealed with shea. To prevent myself from taking down my hair, I braided the twists into 4 braids and pinned the ends up. I hope to leave my hair alone for 2-3 weeks.
Here are some pics: 12/2009 4-months transitioning (last time I put direct heat on my hair for wedding).

Why I decided to go natural? There were several reasons:
- going to a natural/relaxed hair salon: HAIR PORN…all the natural ladies were looking too fly. Flier than the relaxed ladies. I wanted some hair porn of my own.
- I needed a new hairstylist: I got a new hairstylist...ME. I am always on time and appreciate my business, time, and money.
- The Black in America Part 2 program, specifically the segment on triple negative breast cancer. Our family decided to go green after watching. The greening of our family included being chemical free…bye bye relaxers. It just did not make sense to stop using pine-sol or bleach, if I was going to keep getting relaxers.

The straight look was really cute on you. I think about flat ironing my hair but part of me doesn't want to. It's definitely cold and dry enough in the air for it to last a while!! But scared to put the heat to it for a while!!!!

Thank you krazy coils!krazy coils wrote:Hey Thinice and Welcome to Curl Street!
Thank you misskris! I am scared of heat too but want to straighten maybe come March 2011. I have been reviewing a video Mahogany Curls made about roller setting and silk wrapping. I am considering trying it out. I need some courage.misskris wrote:The straight look was really cute on you. I think about flat ironing my hair but part of me doesn't want to. Yeah, Thinice, i guess I could do the roller set too instead of applying heat. The heat is of course what I am scared of. So I'll do a roller set one day and if it comes out cute I'll post pics.
