Hair is breaking.... Empty Hair is breaking....

Post by chocolatigodiva 10th December 2010, 8:41 pm

I'm currently Transitioning. I am 2 months post relaxer and I have about 1/2 inch of new growth. I have been doing twist outs and now I'm seeing that I am experiencing breakage at the line of discrimination. I have stop doing the twist outs even though they were really cute, lol. I'm wearing two french breads now to ease off the tension. Can you give me any advice?

I'm going on four months post relaxer and I haven't had a lot of breakage yet (knock on wood Laughing ) What I try to do is keep my hair well moisturized. I treat my hair as if it's already fully natural. I moisturize it really well as well as incorporate protective styles (usually bunning) to give my hair a break. I never comb my hair while dry and I try not to play with my hair during the day. Realize that some breakage at the demarcation line is inevitable. HTH.

You should always balance moisture and protein. Here is the link to a great article that includes information on breaking hair: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/278612/the_fine_art_of_protein_and_moisture.html?singlepage=true&cat=69

Are you trimming the relaxed ends regularly? I find that trimming every 6 to 8 weeks helps prevent breakage. I am about 7 months post relaxer.

Hi Ladies,
I am noticing some breakage as well. I have no idea how to detangle without having a sink full of hair. I was told (back when I was relaxing) that your hair will shed is this true??? If so, whats the difference between breaking and shedding.
Also does trimming really help with detangling? I am excited and frustrated all at the same time! Mad
