Lol, I like hearts! I think that was a good way to see what you might be working with. I bet your henna did smell good. Sounds like pie! Lol, your head is having a picnic. Grass and pie. (I'm hungry ) Hang in there! Keep me posted!
@ AfricanaCurly
Sounds like you too have had a busy day with the henna! How long did you leave yours in? Overall, how do you feel about the treatment? Have you noticed a real difference in your hair? I think my results will mimic yours. Your hair looks eerily similar to mine... Some fine lookin hair my dear.

Just thought of something else. Did y'all put like any Vaseline of grease around the edges of your scalp?

Re: Henna Hesitation
@Ambitious thanks...I put it in around 8pm last night and washed it out around 8:30am this morning. I don't know how people henna more than once a month, it's a lot of work or maybe it's just my first time and I haven't gotten into the swing of things. Nope didn't use anything around my edges, just henna'd away...it didn't stain on my skin.
Are you my hair twin? lololol...well I'm going to give it a day or two to see if I notice any difference at this moment, nothing significant except the grays aren't gray...lolol

Re: Henna Hesitation
Tiff, I started to put oil or vaseline around my hairline but didn't really feel like it!!! LOL I just wiped off what ever I saw.
But no, the henna did NOT smell good. I was saying that the cinnamon and cloves smelled awesome while boiling it but even when I mixed it in the henna, it didn't do anything for the henna's smell. It just smelled like it did when I opened the henna, like grass, kinda smelled like vitamins too!!! I dunno....

Oh yes i did use baby oil around my edges and ears. I make a mess so i need it. Yea it smells like a plant but if you use fragrant oils itll be fine after a few rinses. I'll have to try that cinamon and pumpkin spice. My man gon try to eat my hair.lol.

Re: Henna Hesitation
HAhaha!! Well you'd probably have to add a lot of the spices to cover the smell. I didn't measure anything (except the lemon juice) I hardly ever do. And when I DO measure stuff, including food recipes, I usually add more!!! LOL I hope this comes out good. I am almost in the 5th hour of having this stuff on my head. I may rinse at 6, maybe 8!!! Probaby 6!!! I don't wanna wait too much longer. I am surprised I haven't rinsed already!!! LOL

Re: Henna Hesitation
Hi Ladies,
The photo is my avatar is of my Henna'd hair. My hair is dark brown, and you can only see the red highlights in the sun. It does loosen my curl pattern, making the ends look like I have relaxer on them. However, I do amla treatments in between monthly henna treatments and I mix half amla and half henna when I do henna treatments and that seems to work!
Good Luck

Hey Melmelbee! You're hair looks lovely! Does the henna/amla mixture loosen yours ends any less? Do you do this as sort of like maintenance?

Re: Henna Hesitation
Oh yes! I do plan to do it. The only thing I don't know about is how everyone is saying it has their ends kinda straight. I might just start with a henna gloss after the castor oil challenge and work my way up to a full henna...

HI Tiff,
Thanks! I actually should update my avatar, because my hair has grown so much in the last few months. Anyway...Henna alone does loosen my curl pattern. In the front where I have mostly 3b and 3c strands, It makes the ends straight. However, when I add amla to the henna mix (1/2 henna and 1/2 amla), it no longer does it. The amla counteracts the henna's "loosening effect", so I get the color and the protein of the henna, and the curl definition from the amla. I henna(full paste with half henna and half amla) once a month. I amla(full paste, with just amla powder and water) 2 times monthly...in between my henna treatments.
