Towel vs t-shirt?
I have seen quite a few people say that they dry their hair with a t-shirt instead of a towel. I am wondering why?
So i guess my question is do you t-shirt or towel dry and why?

I dry my hair with a t-shirt. It soaks up the water w/out creating frizz. Sometimes after I wash my hair I leave my conditioner in, add shea butter/coconut oil/olive oil, and then wrap my hair in a t-shirt. In about 20 minutes I'll take the t-shirt off and have shiny, defined curls w/out water dripping down my neck.

I will have to try the tshirt. As of now i just kinda shake my head like a dog to get the excess water out with minimal frizz. However it does not help with the dripping LOL.

That's pretty much why I like to tshirt dry..less frizz. It soaks the water without drying my hair completely out.

I dry with a tshirt. I always leave some conditioner in and the tshirt soaks up the water, the extra conditioner and leave my hair nice and soft without any white or crunchy residue.
Love it. I used in the summer to dry my WnG puff. It made the curls pop.

i dry with a t shirt because it is finer than a regular towel and my hair doesn't get caught in the towel

I blot my hair with a turkish towel to remove excess water. I have a microfiber turban that I would place gently on my head to blot, now I use it as a layer over my conditioning caps when steaming at the gym.

My vote is for the t-shirt as well. It has amazing absorption power. I squeeze some water out of my hair in the shower then put in the t-shirt. In about 20 minutes (the time it takes to to lotion up and get dressed) my hair is no longer dripping, its just the perfect amount of damp for styling.

I definitely will have to try this! I was considering getting a microfiber towel, but this sounds like it may work perfectly for my growing Laila--because I am really getting tired of getting drenched from my Laila after I have dried off!

Re: Towel vs t-shirt?
I can't remember where but just the other day I read that t-shirts are better than towels because the terry cloth towels tend to separate the hairs too much, causing too much frizz and dryness. So for most of us curlies, I would imagine that that would be defeating the purpose!! I have yet to try the t-shirt method but will probably start with my next wash, Saturday
....oh found it from www.naturallycurly.com .... for those "Curls Like Us Curl Cloths"....Did you know that the course texture of a typical bath towel can roughen up the hair's cuticle and cause curl separation, resulting in frizz? The Curl Cloths are smooth-surfaced, absorbent towels designed to reduce frizz and dry time while creating beautifully-defined curls.

Hope this helps!!

Re: Towel vs t-shirt?
In the beginning i used towels but i watch a video a while back and she said how the towel pretty much dry natural hair and it did i pretty much had to respritz as i braid and use to end up with length all over my hair , now that use a T shirt it's much better my hair doesn't drip and the moisture remains and no drip ...

Re: Towel vs t-shirt?
T-shirt it is for me. I gently squeeze the water from my hair after washing and wrap in a t-shirt. I dunno. My hair just looks less weird when I use a t-shirt. LOL!
Re: Towel vs t-shirt?
According to the FAQs on the website(quoted below), the Curl Cloth is not for drying your hair completely. So you would still need to air dry or use another tool to dry your hair.
"Remember that the Curl Clothâ„¢ is not designed to dry your hair. It is meant to blot out the excess moisture and set your curls without introducing frizziness."
Not knocking the Curl Cloth, just don't want anyone to be disappointed.

Re: Towel vs t-shirt?
I see that the Tshirt is probaly the best option I will be tryng this. My next questions is how do you wrap it and get it to stay?
I would think it would be awkward because of the shape?

Re: Towel vs t-shirt?
@ Sweetnsassy....you remember back in the day when we used to pretend we had long hair with the tshirt??? (Y'all, don't act like you didn't do that!!! LOL) Well i would say just do that. As if you were taking a tshirt off, take it off almost all the way but leave the neck part around your hairline. And then I guess you can just wrap the excess shirt material around your head from there. That's what I would do,
HTH!

Re: Towel vs t-shirt?
A towel creates more frizz but for me a tshirt does the same. I'll usually swing my head back and forth like a dog in the bathtub to get rid of the water and allow my hair to drip wet as I style my hair. If I''m in a rush then I'll just dry my hair with paper towels because for me it's less frizz.

I utilize the t-shirt method to dry my hair and it keeps down on frizz, keeps curls clumped, and minimizes breakage versus using a towel.
