Natural Hair Colors Empty Natural Hair Colors

Post by *Kinky Chic* 29th November 2010, 2:32 pm

When I first did my bc I used a black henna. I recently was at Whole Foods and saw Naturtint. I was considering using the 5c light copper chestnut. Have anyone used this product before? Are their any likes/dislikes? What are some other good natural hair dyes?

Thank you in advance for the replies! Very Happy

I have never heard of this brand, so I cannot say if it's good/safe.

Wait until you find something that someone else has used.

You don't want to cause any damage...

I've never heard of Nutratint but a lot of naturals on here have raved about Garnier Fructis, specifically Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Creme, which contains grape seed & avocado oil, and Herbashine because it's ammonia-free and act quickly. Hope this helps Smile

Not sure If you've dyed your hair by now, but I agree with Sweet Tee. I've seen Naturtint in Whole Foods, as well as several beauty supply stores, but I've never seen or heard any reviews on it. I've been wanting to highlight my hair for a while and after reading many reviews, I too chose to go with Garnier Fructis. I am Not a professional and I did it myself on yesterday and it came out beautifully! I was sure to follow the directions exactly as stated as too avoid any damage. I have a lot of natural friends who also went with Garnier and have been pleased with the results. Hope this helps

What color did you use, Pretty?

I love the results I have gotten from Garnier in the past on relaxed hair.

I used a Cream of Nature color (cinnamon) last week,
but it was not what I was looking for
and did nothing for my grays.

I cannot use ANY Loreal color product-
gives me knots on each side of my neck!!!

Believe it or not it wasn't categorized by color or number, but by your natural hair color. There were only four options, one for blonde, black, red or brown hair. I used the one for brown hair. The name on the box is Garnier Color Breaks, and its just enough for the right amount of highlights. It came out as a nice coppery almost blonde color. I'd used that same Creme of Nature color back when I was relaxed, that's a really pretty choice, sorry it didn't work out how you wanted. Eeeeekkk at Loreal, I've never heard great things about their dyes Sad. Have you thought about trying anything darker than the cinnamon to cover the grays?

I'm really thinking of going with Bigen for the grays.
That worked pretty well before.

Or I'll wait til I get home and use my indigo.
Sometimes that can work ok as well.

Thanx for the info!

Garnier Nutrisse is also recommended for "100% gray coverage" and it contains the oils that I mentioned before.

Heena is very good hair product for natural hair colour. It is such a best for hair. Keep it for two or three hours, and wash with the normal water. It is very good for eye and hair, it is such a very much beneficial for summer sessions.

Heyu I have used Nutratint..a few times and it's great!
I actually used it when I had a relaxer,BUT my friend who was natural referred me.It is much much gentler than a regular dye.It has less chemicals and to me the dye had a great tint.It actually gets lighter and lighter over time.I used a Brown Blonde I believe..and at first it was sorta dark brown, which was safe..lol but over time with every wash it got lighter.Im not sure of it was suppose to do that but it did and the color fastness is excellent. This coming from someone who had OVER dyed her hair at one point,so this is why i used something more natural. Also since you do have natural hair, you can leave it in longer.Im currently in 10months of transitioning :-)...lol im pressing..

Stick to colors that compliment your skin tone, figure out if you're better off with single-process color or highlights, and then decide if you're going to pay someone else to do it or do it yourself.

It needs a few days to achieve the final color of your treatment, because the color will continue into the dry in a few days, due to oxidation process. This natural process occurs in the plant colorants exposed to the air similar to how to cut apples turn brown over time.
