WINTERIZE MY HAIR????
Ok, so I keep seeing and hearing that I need to winterize my hair, and I thought nothing of it until my go to stylers completely failed me! I look at the ingredients on my ic gel and the second ingredient is glycerin, which I see everyone saying to stay away from in the winter time.
Ok, so now I need some new stylers!! Is my Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie still good? What are some inexpensive products to try? I stopped being a PJ a while ago and really don't want to pick that habit up again, lol, so if I can get some suggestions, my hair is super super THICK!!! I have 3c/4a hair.
Thanks curlies!

Re: WINTERIZE MY HAIR????
Hi kurlegurl,
I really won't be much help since this is my first winter natural, but I would suggest creamy products that are designed to add moisture to your hair such as Qhemet's Amla Heavy Cream or the smoothie you mentioned. Then be sure to seal the moisture in and hide the ends of your hair as frequently as possible. I've also read that some curlies are trying to dt more frequently. Hopefully someone more experienced will chime in.

Re: WINTERIZE MY HAIR????
We have the same hair type 3c/4a! I am fairly new to the natural world but its already cold here so i've been using Qhemet's Amla Heavy Cream to do a twist out on my TWA (: i seal with Coconut Oil and my hair loves it. I also use Wild hair Grow Oil every other day on my scalp and massage it for about 3 mintues before i go to bed. . my hair feels extra moisturized. I DC when I shampoo or Cowash whatever i think my hair needs once a week. . I hear alot of people saying that in the winter they DC more often but for now I dont necessarily need to do that. . but OUR HAIR TYPE def. LOVES MOISTURE and LOTS OF IT!

Check out this website www.bglh.com
the 3rd or 4th post speaks about why Glycerin may be okay for the winter. Oyin handmade products had a discussion about it.

@jadore04- Yes! I think I may try the Qhemet's Amla Heavy Cream, as I do like to do twists as protective styling, so I will let you guys know what I decide.
Thanks for the help, hope more experienced curlies add some more info..lol

Re: WINTERIZE MY HAIR????
Thanks. I actually watched the podcast on OYIN's channel a few weeks ago and felt like it might not work for me because my shower has no door and I don't get steam. I guess the best thing is to just test it out, because my hair loves, loves glycerin.
