I just want to start out by saying HIIIII! I heart CurlyNikki.com! This website has saved my life! My transition to natural began shortly after my daughter was born (5/22/09). I had been heavily contemplating "going natural" waaay before then, but I hadn't the foggiest idea where to start. As my little princess grew, so did her beautiful head of hair and BAM! I was instantly inspired. I got my last relaxer July 4th of '09 and never looked back. The first few months were easy..shampoo-condition-blow dry-flat iron about every two weeks. Praise Mary, Joseph, and sweet little baby Jesus I stumbled upon CurlyNikki.com where I learned about the dangers of HEAT DAMAGE, my precious line of demarcation, and transition styles (wipes sweat off brow, whew!) Fast forward to July of 2010, I managed to successfully transition for a full YEAR ( ) and I thought I could keep going..WROOOONG! I got just plain LAZY, was growing tired of buns, flat twist out, and quite frankly, hiding my hair. Our family vacation cruise to the bahamas was soon approaching (september) and I didn't know what I was going to do. There was NO way I was going to waste precious vacation time on my hair (i.e. styling the nite before, OH to the NO, sista girl was tryna get her bahama ON!) so, on August 4th, i big chopped. Best decision ever made.
Here I am a little over a month after I chopped.
I was able to wear a wash n go puff the whole time, and I LOVED IT!
The picture in my avi is of twists that I pinned back, that soon became my staple style once I came back from vacation (cause honey, it's cold here in Illinois!!)
So today, THIS very day, is the day before my 3 month post BC check up, so what a better way to celebrate than to start a journal! Here is my hair TODAY:
my latest discovery, DRY twist outs!! they show my length, and look just plain awesome! I'll alternate this style with my pinned twists for the winter.
I hope to keep you all updated with me, my hair, and whatever. But most importantly, to track my progress! I'm glad my natural hair is finally out of hiding!

Thank you THANK you! Lord knows I'm trying when it comes to styling my hair! My accessory is from TARGET. It was apart of a headband, but sadly, I have a big head and broke it. Kept the flower, stuck a bobby pin through it, INSTANT fix.LaToya28 wrote:Welcome! I love your twistout...that accessory is too cute!

..WASH DAY..
Today is wash day, as I'm sure it is for many of you. Here was my hair today.. a week old dry twist out, pushed back and jazzed up with a headband:
Ready to wash!
Here are my All Star products:
I first Shampoo w/ My Nature's Gate Herbal poo:
I then Condition(w/Nature's Gate Pomegranate Sunflower condish), Section, and Detangle, braid. Rinse out. Deep condition (w/ GVP conditioning balm) leave in for 30 mins (w/ heat)
After the deep conditioner is rinsed out, I then apply HE HH as my leave in, seal with Hairveda's Cocasta Shikakai, then air dry. Once dry, I take down the braids, and then twist.
I'll post pics tomorrow of my finished style!
OH. almost forgot. Here's a pic of my princess' hair today. PONY PUFF!

Welcome to Curl street, I'm a tad bit late!
Your daughter is adorable and your hair looks great. It looks very healthy and I love that you have a very simple hair care routine. My hair seems to thrive when I keep things as simple as possible...

..STYLE RESULTS..
I said I would post pics of the finished style from last night's wash session. I had planned to put my hair in twists for a twist out after my hair dried in the braids...yeeea, about that. Laziness strikes again! Left the braids in overnite..and voila!
my FIRST braidout <3
eehh..when I went to work this morning, I was only kinda sorta feelin it. But then when I came home, I fluffed it out a bit more, and I like it! I still have my heart set on a twist out, but I think I'll rock the braid out for one more day. So yea, QUESTION?? How do I preserve my style?? do I have to re-braid the whole thing again?? (shudders).

Better late than not at all, lol! Thanks hun! Don't let my "simple" fool you..It took me a whole HEAP of time and money to find a routine and products that work the best for my hair. But I do have to agree "simple as possible" is the way to go!jlowman1 wrote:Welcome to Curl street, I'm a tad bit late!

I really like the braid out. You have so much definition. Baby girl's pony puff is adorable.
