Advice Needed: Bantu Knot Outs
Hello,
I am experimenting with the bantu knot out hairstyle today for the first time. I need advice on what to do with my hair at night. Should I twist it back up again or just pin up the end pieces with bobby pins and wrap a scarf around my hair that night? Also, what are the best styling products to use on this style? TIA.

Hey when I did bantu knots I used Garnier Frutis soft curl but since that product is discontinued you can use another product similar to it which is a curly putty. You can also just use cantu leave in for your hair. To sleep I just throw on a bonnet and refresh in the morning but if you want them to be as fresh as they are when you first did them, you might want to redo them again. Hope this helps!

Re: Advice Needed: Bantu Knot Outs
I've only done Bantu knot outs on dry stretched hair. I use a moisturizer, recently Carol's Daughter hair milk and Koils by Nature sweet almond joy butter, and Jane Carter's leave-in conditioner. I seal the ends with a mixture of coconut and jojoba oils. I start by doing a two strand twist then just twist the rest. The 2-strand twist is done for about 2 inches.
To keep the style I put hair in a pineapple at night after moisturizing. I just separate gently from underneath--may put a little moisturizer and oil on my hands. I then shake and go.

I still experimenting with bantu knot outs. On my first day I retwist the edges and put the rest up in a pineapple. On the second day all put all of my hair up in a pineapple, I gatheres all of the hair and placed it as close to my forehead as possible and then wrapped it.

Re: Advice Needed: Bantu Knot Outs
It depends on my mood as to how I care for my BKO at night. Sometimes I will not do anything to it just sleep on my silk pillowcase or I sometimes will redo the fromt two and the side two knots. I also will just place four knots (using all of my hair) and go to bed. Moody..I know.
