Sealing hair everyday?
I've been wondering about sealing the hair everyday....I know some people do it, sometimes 2 times a day. If you seal in a water based moisturizer with an oil or butter, will the moisturizer be able to penetrate your strands each time? Does that protective layer of lets say shea butter disappear that quickly?

When I seal, I only do it once after a cowash, then wait until I wash again. ALSO, I usually condition and let it sit for an hour or so before GENTLY sealing. That way the conditioner has some time to penetrate my hair.

I forgot to say that I use my water, conditioner, AVG spray mix every morning. Sometimes I spritz lightly once or twice during the day, depending on how thirsty my hair seems.

So will your daily spritz be able to penetrate properly since you seal with oil after your cowash.

It seems to make a difference... I wet it, move it around a little since when I wake up it's smashed, and it's good to go.

Thanx for your reply....because I was concerned a daily spritz wouldn't be able to penetrate properly after my hair being sealed...I'll just continue with the daily moisturizing....

Oil doesn't block water out of your hair completely. Oil only makes it a little harder, but it doesn't "seal" anything in or out, exactly. But it is different than not using oil at all.. TheNaturalHaven has a few good posts on oil and the hair shaft.

Re: Sealing hair everyday?
I can't imagine sealing everyday. I don't even have that much hair and it's time-consuming.
Re: Sealing hair everyday?
I definitely cant seal everyday, I'd be a greasy mess! lol
I usually do it as my last step after I cowash, apply my leave in and moisturizer. Even then, I only use a tiny bit of jojoba oil. Just enough to make a thin layer over my hair.

I usually seal with castor oil every weekday, then weekends I do my DC ..any treatments etc
I need moisturiser and seal most days, hair is sooo dry.. under 10 degree's atm..so all the moisture + sealing I can get!
