One year anniversary tomorrow...

Hi everyone. I've been gone for a few months dealing with some major issues at home and at work, but I wanted to stop by and show off my progress after being natural one year. Tomorrow, Sept. 24th, will mark one year since my big chop. A barber cut it down to about 1/2 an inch or so all over. It's been hard, but I've learned so much and I am so grateful to Nikki for this site and for all of you whose own stories and tips have made caring for my hair so much easier. I'm not ready to cut it yet...I haven't even had a trim since the chop. My hair is healthy, it's not falling out or breaking off. I have stuck with the wash and go almost daily, except for about twice a month when I take the time to twist my hair for 2-3 days.

Anyway, here's a pic from the spring maybe and a pic I took today. I am so proud of myself for becoming comfortable with my hair. Thank you again for all your support and info over the past year (even when I was just lurking).

First off, you look like my sister! LOL. More importantly, BIG CONGRATS to you! Your hair is freaking beautiful. I love anniversary posts like this. IMO, the 1st year being natural is the hardest year because you have to get the mindset to let go of chemicals, fight through product junkiness, find the proper products for your hair, learn how to style your hair, deal with ignorant comments, and learn to accept your hair no matter what it looks like. Again, BIG CONGRATS! Being a newbie, this gives me new inspiration to keep going strong.
