Trying something new with Clairol's Luminize & henna

I was talking to a stylist friend of mine about boosting color for the fall. I've been henna'ing for a year now & did my last one a month ago so it's about time for another round. My friend recommended that I use Luminize with a streaking cap to lift the color of a few strands then do my normal henna treatment. Has anyone tried this before? Henna deposits great on my hair & I think this would satisfy my recent urge to dye my hair!

I remember someone on another forum saying they do this with great results!!
