Old or expired products......
Hello All,
I'm desperately in need of your opinions; I ordered some Vatika Oil and some Ramirth Brahmi Oil from an online vendor. I received my order today and both of the oils look questionable. They are both solidified and the Brahmi oil looks as if it’s molded even though the expiration date is in 2012. My good judgment tells me that the product in the bottle is old; but because this is my first time purchasing both of these oils, I’m curious, and would like to get your opinions. The Vatika oil bottle is opaque, but here’s a picture of the Brahmi oil below.....for anyone who’s purchased this oil before, does it always look like this?
I’m really interested in building an Ayurvedic regimen, however, I find myself being very skeptical, due to the numerous expired products I’ve encountered, of some the small grocery stores and online vendors....has anyone else experienced this issue?
My apologies for the quality of the pictures, but oil has brown spots throughout....
TIA!

Vatika oil has coconut oil in it. Coconut oil will solidify when the temperature is below 70/75 degrees F. Setting the bottle in a bowl of warm water will "thaw" it.

BTW: a woman posted a funny video on You Tube about Coconut oil solidifying in her hair during the cold winter.

Were you able to thaw your Brahmi oil? I got mine in the mail today and it looks exactly like your picture. How did you thaw it?

Nike, Since they both have coconut oil in them, once you liquify the coconut oil, it should be fine. That Brahmi oil has so many other herbs in it, its hard to say. If you still doubt the Brahmi oil, take it to a local Indian store and ask their opinion (I'd call first). Personally, I prefer dealing with the ladies.

Thanks! I put my bottle in a pot of hot water and it's now all oil! I'm so happy. I didn't want to have to send it back as I plan on making some curly buttercream this weekend!

Thanks ladies! The products are still sitting under my desk at work. Unfortunately, I really think the Brahmi oil is old and I'm not comfortable putting it in my hair. Even the packaging looks outdated. I chalked it up as a loss.
