Bad Hair Ingredients

I'm newly curly and I B'C' ed I want a great big Leela James fro though, and I know it'll take a while for my hair to grow but my hair grows fairly fast as is,I was wondering what exactly should I watch out for though I've read minerral oil is a no no when trying to grow hair but I have curl definers with it in it that I've fallen in love with and if I use something like olive oil after the initial curl definer could that counter act the mineral oil? I'm confused and doesn't really want to give up on my bottle of curl definer but if it's not helping my hair I will quit it fast!
