Progress! Empty Progress!

Post by Muz 15th August 2010, 1:36 am

So after that Carol's Daughter Hair Milk fail, I decided to try cornrowing again tonight, and I looked up a tutorial and finally found one that worked. The one closest to my ear is the last one I did, and I think it looks rather perfect! (Please ignore the one next to it, my arms were hurting and I just stopped caring as you can probably tell ~lol~) I didn't really care about any of them since I'm just gonna sleep in them, but I may give it a real go tomorrow since I was looking for a new protective style [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The parts aren't that great, but what was important to me was getting my fingers to work properly, I had far fewer moments of confusion. I'm probably overly excited about it, but yay!

Hey Muz....

I like the one next to your ear. WOW good work. Practice makes perfect. I've been trying to practice as well....all I can say is it's a work in progress. I can cornrow, but I haven't been able to do my own hair.

I know exactly what you mean KNH. I have the hardest time cornrowing my hair. It took me several attempts, and hours, yesterday until I finally gave in and went with a very basic style. Now I just have to pray they stay in for at least a week before I have to redo them.

@Muz, good for you! I've been following your blog and you're doing a great job with your hair.

As for cornrowing, I think its a fun protective style. But I want to try cornrowing with a two strand twist. No matter how many videos I watch I always seems to get my fingers tangle in my hair! lol

Thanks for following my blog, and for the compliment! I think I posted a flat twist tutorial on there when I was still transitioning that helped me out, but here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Basc64Kpbw. It's funny, I picked up on flat two-strand twists waaaaaay easier than cornrows. For me the 3 pieces of hair was way more confusing than two. LOL, it's funny how all of our brains work in different ways

I see the progress! As with your braiding, your parting will get better with practice.

Muz those braids are looking good! I can't part straight for nothing in the world but I agree with Chrs, practice should make that better. Like flat twists for me, I need more practice with that because my fingers just don't work right trying to do those things.

Congrats to all the ladies learning how to cornrow! I just figured it out to using the Cornrow tutorial on Beads Braids Beyond blog (having thin hair I do just two french braids). The key tip that made it all click for me was to add new hair to the middle strand only.. that way the braids all come out even looking. And to the OP you did get better! Just one of your cornrows is the size ALL of my hair in a braid. lol

I can't cornrow to save my life but I'm gonna keep trying. I have my hair flat-twisted right now and those were easy for me to learn to do but I literally spent 1 hour trying to do 1 cornrow 2 weeks ago. Crying or Very sad I gave up. Thanks for posting the link to the vid maybe this one will get me headed in the right direction.
