Porosity Control? Empty Porosity Control?

Post by bella gee 15th November 2009, 10:47 pm

I've been thinking about picking some of this up. I've tried doing the porosity strand test where you run your fingers down a strand of hair, but I can't tell if my hair is having issues with porosity or not from that test. So I figured I may try this conditioner to see if it makes a difference. I read a thread over at LHCF , and it seems most people are using this after a DC, as a final step.

Does anyone use Porosity Control Conditioner? What's your experience with it?

I have that conditioner, I haven't used it lately-but I used to use it as the 1st conditioner when I co-washed. The followed up with something heavier. It has a thin consistency, has a pearlescent (sp?) look of a shampoo. The smell isn't anything special either. It has a little slip.

I can't remember exactly why I was using it, I think to balance my porosity to help control frizz in humidity. From what I could tell it did well in balancing. I put a strand of hair in a glass of water test to gage my porosity.

@Jonezy: How does the water test work? I couldn't tell by running my finger up a hair strand either, so maybe the water test will be more helpful.

I've used it. I would def recommend following up with a more moisturizing conditioner. I did feel as tho my held moisture longer after included this...I would have tried a vinegar rinse first but I am not a fan of the vinegar smell.

Do you have thirsty hair? Hair that soaks up moisture super fast and is still dry?

I just purchased this from Sally's :-) Today is my hair day! I'm so happy... First day off in MONTHS! LOL This is going to be great :-) Can't wait to try it. Someone told me to try it for a month or so to see if it'll help control my frizz... *fingers crossed :-)

sorry so late, just now checking back on this post...here's how the test works:

A quick porosity test- pull a couple of hair strands from different parts of your hair, and then drop them in a cup of water. If they sink within 5 - 10 seconds, then your hair is overly porous.
