Taliah Waajid
I went to a local beauty supply store and saw that they carried the Taliah Waajid line of products. Anyone have experience with the products? Good? Bad? Indifferent? Thanks in advance!

Re: Taliah Waajid
Ok so Taliah Waajid's line was recommended to me by the lady that owns a nearby BSS. She said a lot of naturals use it. I did not buy any of the shampoos because they have sulfates (I try my best to stay away from -cones so I just co-wash).
I did eventually buy/try the Crinkles & Curls. I don't know exactly what to call it because it's not thick like a mousse but it's not a gel either. It's a pump bottle and it comes out like foam soap. It's a thin consistency. Anywho, I part my hair in 4 sections and rake a pump or 2 in each section and scrunch. Sometimes I scrunch in a bit of gel or HE TT mousse to the ends. I almost always plop for about 20 mins and then air dry the rest of the way.
If you want a product that will make your curls soft, bouncy and a bit enhanced...this is a good one to try. I like it. The only thing is that it doesn't really have much hold, which is why I add gel or mousse. The bottle says it can be used on wet or dry sets too. I used it the other day when I tried a braid out but since my hair wasn't fully dry when I took the braids out, the results were less than desireable...but not because of the Crinkles & Curls.
I hope this helps!

Re: Taliah Waajid
Thanks Jamaica. Here's a review I found for Taliah Waajid Protective Mist Bodifier on Long Hair Care Forum
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Product Description:
Used for comb out and detangling, daily conditioning, and to remove braids.
Ingredients:
Pure Distilled Water, Wheat germ oil, indian hemp, olive oil, balsam,
aloe vera, bee pollen, silk protein, bay laurel, fruit biofalvonoids,
anicent african herbal formula
My Review:
PROS:
*Wonderful moisturizer (especially on freshly washed hair) - the softness lasted until the next day [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
*great addition to my shea butter mix
* don't need to use much to get the desired result
*great ingredients
*didn't make my protein-sensitive hair HARD (like infusium 23 did[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])
*i can buy it at my local BSS (in Dallas AND Houston - glory!!!)
*i paid about $8
CONS:
*it is THICK (shake the bottle WELL before each use)
*because it was so thick, i didnt like to use it while i had
extensions, but it was still great on loose hair and i didn't need to
use much [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
ANOTHER ONE...
I LOOOOOOVE this stuff. When the BSS near my house had a going out of business sale I bought all their bottles.
Cool tip - When it gets thick - add a little water to the bottle, shake
it up and the results are the same. This allows you to get a good 25%
more out of the bottle.
Also...if you are transitioning, are texlaxed or just have some new
growth in general, I've learned that spraying this around your NG and
the demarcation line helps a lot especially if you plan on flat ironing
your hair.
And for you low manipulation folks - on those days where thick roots
get a lil matted applying this directly on them makes running your
fingers through your hair much easier.
Mind you I was also using Cantu Shea Butter leave in conditioner during
this time and I suspect that this helped as well. So people who use
shea butter - DEF add this to your regimen as a great compliment.
I've dubbed this product "The Great Nap Detangler"
I tried to use this on extensions but found Sta Sof Fro is best for braids and this - like you said is best on your hair.
just dont forget to water it down a wee bit....same great results and more bang for your buck! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: Taliah Waajid
I used these products when I had a relaxer and I loved them. I haven't tried them on my natural hair as of yet.
Re: Taliah Waajid
Well what are you waiting for LuvMe? lol We need reviews sista girl. I'm kidding. I think I'm going to head back to the BSS sometime this week and pick up a thing or two to test out. Hopefully I love them as much as everyone else does. I've read almost all positive reviews on another forum but wanted to know what some of my CN ladies thought.
Re: Taliah Waajid
I love love love the Protective Mist Bodifier.
-It multitasks. I use it as a detangler (awesome), moisturizer, leave-in, and styler. The moisture lasts for at least a few days.
-It is an amazing detangler...makes finger detangling my 4a hair amazingly easy. Perfect slip, you can use it to detangle dry hair as well. My breakage has lowered dramatically now that I can detangle so easily.
-It's cheap...7$ for 8oz...cheaper if you order the large size online.
-It's easily accessible...can be bought in a BSS, some cvs stores (they just started doing this), or online.
-It doesn't have parabens, silicones, DMDM hydantoin, or any other ingredients I don't use.
-It smells good.
My only two issues with it are 1) I use it up quickly because I'm heavy handed and it's thick. But it can be thinned out with water, I just like it better straight; and 2) the ingredient list is kind of sketchy to me. I know it says all natural but I don't like vague ingredients like "fruit bioflavanoids" and "ancient african herbal formula".
I want to believe it really is all natural, but I think this is an instance of "creative" labeling (similar to Aubrey Organics) since I don't know anything in nature that smells like this product does (fruity, sweet). Also, she says on the website that the "bay laurel" ingredient is how the products are preserved, but I haven't been able to find information of using bay laurel as a preservative in hair products though it is antimicrobial and antibacterial. I have a feeling that maybe she uses a bay laurel derived preservative that isn't actually all natural, or something to that effect.
But if those things don't bother you, then I definitely recommend the product. I love it and I have a feeling it'll be a staple for life.

Re: Taliah Waajid
I tired the herbal cleanse it's the pre-shampoo product and man oh man that stuff dried my hair out so bad i wanted to just put the whole bottle of conditioner in my hair after that.
I liked the tingling feeling it gives but my hair does not like it at all...

Re: Taliah Waajid
Thanks maysay...I think I'll give the Protective Mist Bodifier a shot when I make my next BSS run. I'll be sure to look over that ingredient list because I try to pay attention to what I use on my hair too. I'll do some research first.
Re: Taliah Waajid
The Protective Mist Bodifier is one of my holy grails. I have the shampoo, conditioner, twist and loc gel, and a couple of other products from the line but the Protective Mist Bodifier is my favorite. It is a great leave in!
Re: Taliah Waajid
I use the twist n loc gel to set my daughter's twists and I like it a lot. I really defines her wave pattern and it holds very well without the build up and it smells good. I did purchase a bottle of that anti itch mist stuff and it stopped the itch and gave a tingling feeling but it made my hair dryer then what it was. I have 4b hair so I really need a good moisturizer. I too wil have to get that Protective Mist Bodifier.

Re: Taliah Waajid
Hello!!! I've tried all of Taliah Waajid products and even went to get my hair done at the salon in Atlanta; my mother always said if you dont have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all :-) The shampoo has SLS Sodium Lauryl Sulfate in it, second the conditioner did not moisturize my hair, the mist bodifer made my hair turn white.....the twist and lock gel was ok, but I will never use there products again.
Re: Taliah Waajid
I agree with Koilsbynature, I was not at all impressed, I used the Protective mist bodifier and twist & Loc gel while transitioning and it was a mess. I also tried the twist and loc gel again on my all natural hair and I still hated it. TW has one last chance, I'm gonna try the Protective Mist Bodfier on my natural hair and see how that works.

In case any one wants to know... I came across a blog that was saying that Taliah Waajid products are now being carried by CVS. Here is a link with all of the CVSs carrying the products and its broken down by state! http://www.naturalhair.org/cvsstoresaddresses.aspx
Re: Taliah Waajid
Hey ladies. I used the Kinky, Wavy, Natural Herbal Style & Shine to do me some twist earlier this week and LOVED the results. It gave my twist a nice soft hold with a sheen to them and the twist out was AMAZING. This products is geared towards children but it worked on my hair.

Lovennappiness on youtube swears by the twist and loc gel. Can't get it where I am locally but may try it if I get to IL to a CVS. Just to try it.

Re: Taliah Waajid
The Taliah Waajid Protective Mist Bodifier is the bomb. I use it as a detangler on next day hair. If I do a wash and go and want to go straight into doing twists (not washing the hair). Or as a detangler after shampooing and want to do two strand twists or daily as a twist out refresher. Hope this helps.
I almost forgot as a leave-in as well.

Re: Taliah Waajid
I'm still trying to figure out why she claims "all natural" and her shampoos have sulfates and many of the other products have mineral oil/petrolatum.
I only use the regular Protective Mist Bodifier and the conditioner (as an alternative leave in). Her African Oyl's ingredient list is not clear so I leave that alone as well.

I feel you. There are many products that claim to be all natural but in fact are not.

@ koilsbynature
Okay...that is one of the reason's I started making my own. That and how dog on expensive the so called "all natural" products cost and most are online order only. Shoot I can purchase something else with that shipping fee...okay.
Re: Taliah Waajid
LOL!!! You're roght about that!! I just ordered some henna and it was only $15, but shipping and handling was $10!!! So I just order 3 packs so I could get my monies worth I guess!
Re: Taliah Waajid
I've only used the mist bodifer and that stuff is great. I mostly use if for wash and go when i add alot of gel to my hair. it makes it so soft.

I've used the herbal cleanse and it gives your scalp a tingling feeling. You use it for a pre-poo. I also used they're condish. It was just ok, nothing special about it. Don't think I'll be purchasing it again.
